“Licensed To Ill”
sidenote: i will no longer be posting the daily song challenge because i have finals to be studying for.
this is probably my favorite rap-rock album of all time. it is not only that but it is the album which introduced me to hip-hop and also the first CD i’ve ever bought. the first hip-hop song i’ve ever heard was “Brass Monkey.” this is a classic 80’s album and one of the albums that bought hip-hop to the masses. rick rubin handles the production on this album. it is also one of the bestselling hip-hop albums ever, as it is certified diamond. MCA is my favorite beastie (RIP) but Mike D. and Ad-Rock are dope as well. just three white kids having fun and dropping rhymes over simplistic production. obviously everything is very simplistic on here, as it is an album from 86. but it works very well. there are also amazingggg breaks like in the song “The New Style.” just an undeniable hip-hop classic right here with hardly much to complain about besides its simplicity, which is understandable for the time.
