Simultaneously with the signing of the new agreement with the Chadian government, the first site visit took place in Siniaka Minia Faunal Reserve. We were able to start the conversation with the local communities and nomadic groups passing through the area, discuss the importance of conservation of the reserve as well as the plans moving forward. A very successful start for the management of this area.

These past few months have been challenging but thanks to your generosity we have already managed to provide some food and shelter to the displaced communities surrounding the Chinko reserve. You can still make a contribution and help us raise $518.000 in the coming weeks. Click the link in bio to support our humanitarian efforts and put a smile on these kids' faces. #chinko #africanparksnetwork #humanitariancrisis #emergencyappeal #idp #makeachange #donate #conservation #communitydevelopment #centralafricanrepublic #africa

Repost from @zakouma_national_park using @RepostRegramApp - The Zakouma team is proud to congratulate Rian and Lorna Labuschagne with the 2017 Prince William for Conservation Award in Africa, which was awarded for their incredible efforts in conservation over the last 34 years. Rian and Lorna spent nearly 7 years in Zakouma, where they managed the park with @africanparksnetwork, and turned the place dealing with rampant elephant poaching, into an area with thriving wildlife populations, including a succesfull breeding herd of elephants.

The elephant herd in the lush and green vegetation that marks the rain season. The last major downpours have passed Zakouma and we can tell by the heat and humidity that the dry season is on its way. Soon the grass will change colour and the water will recede to the wetlands in the Park, where it will host one of the most spectacular congregations of wildlife.
