I know my crew isn’t sure what to think about my new onboard obsession with doing yoga everyday, and I know they laugh pretty hard when I face plant after being hit by a unsuspecting wave, but hey I love it. Sure I find blood clots and anchovies in my hair after using the same mats we use to preserve fish quality as my on deck yoga mat. Hey, but what’s new? And yes I’ve mastered the move I call “ass over kettle” which generally starts as a head stand and ends with my face smashed in the deck, but I’m loving the challenge. I wish I had found yoga sooner in my life, but regardless I’m happy we met. This time last year post divorce I was unexplainably angry at times, while today I’m unexplainably happy all the time. I sleep better, breath better and feel way better. I’m not tired or sore at work no matter what the work load. For years I would make excuses why I couldn’t do a workout routine on the boat and I let my health go to absolute shit. With yoga I have no excuses I’ve already proven that even in a blistering gale I can modify a work out despite being airborne at times and being splashed in the face at others. My favorite yoga saying thus far is “yoga doesn’t take time, it makes time.” I’ve attached some photos the boys took of my “flow ahi sculpt routine”. I need to continue to work on my form, it’s particularly hard in my Grunden rain pants ( the only yoga pants I’ll ever be wearing!) but I accept I’m a work in progress.
Like I always say about commercial fishing its not always pretty but it’s a beautiful life. (If any of my fishing friends or any friends want to go with me for that matter I’ll happily pay for your first class.) #yogaeverydamnday #yogachallenge #yoga #yogapants #grundens #workflow #livethelifeyoulove #fisherman #fishing #fish #ahi #seafood #boatyoga #yogafish #yogafishing #breath #tunaandcompany #yogahale #yogainspiration #yogalife #yogaposes #yogalove #pelagic #saltlife #sashimi #tuna #tunafishing
