#picturesareworthathousandwords and #wordscannotexpresss the #devastation that I have witnessed #firsthand this past week.
As a part of the #animalrecoverymission @arminvestigations #disasterresponnseteam,we deployed to assist in #searchandrescue efforts of the catastrophic #wildfires in #california.
What we encountered was nothing short of an #apolocolyse
Almost 100,000 acres of the #santamonicanationalpark and #protected areas were charred to the ground, with nothing more than the shambles of structures that once were intact. Ash rubbles that litter the landscape serve as #heartbreaking reminders of the toll that the #wildfires took.
With the increasing rise of #globalwarming and #climatechange , the #wildfires of #woolseyfire and #campfire tore up the coast of #California at windspeeds of 60 mph, averaging a burn rate of the size of a football field every 3 seconds.
Defenseless #wildlife were exposed to the sudden outburst of uncontrollable flames - many unable to outrun the engulfing #flamesoffury and periled😢
Domestic and #farmanimals have flooded vet hospitals as they are pulled from the flames with harrowing stories of survival . Unable to walk with the skin burnt off of their paws, first responders and brave animal rescue teams have been tirelessly carrying the traumatized animals out of the flames.
Tragically, stories began to trickle from #fellow #bootsontheground , #firefighter #allies of animals who were left locked in barns and tied to trees, abandoned, helpless and unable to escape the raging fires. For those animals, is is heartbreaking to even begin to imagine the torture they endured with zero hope or the chance to escape.
Left in its wake, entire towns have been decimated, including the town of #paradise in #Butte County, where hundreds of people have still been unaccounted for. With the strength and endurance of the flames, people were reported to have been discovered contorted and dead in their driveways and inside burning cars. Tragically the #California #wildfires have taken hostage to a rising number of people still missing of 1200.
I cannot begin to thank all of the courageous and dedicated men and women 🙏❤️
