I've heard folks say they don't think they have been given gifts or don't understand what they are to do in regards to serving as a Christian. There's not a straight forward answer to that, in my opinion. However, we all have the opportunity to read the Word of God and use it as our starting point. It always involves our time, talent, and treasure, whatever we may have available but not necessarily all of those things all the time.
You might ask how are we to serve? The answer is this: In all places, at all times, with all people...and with compassion.
If we take any situation we are in and use it to grow in our ability to serve where ever we may be, like work, home, church, and in public settings: we are creating our area of service. As soon as our eyes open until the time they close, we should be able to see there is a need for some type of service to the Lord. When we think of who we might be serving, many times we think of those who are in obvious need. However, sometimes those we need to be in Godly service to are those who we'd least likely like to serve, enemies included. You never know who's heart you'll change.
