First Home Depot trip was a success! I'll admit, I was a bit nervous but Mona did well. We stayed basically right at the entrance but that was challenging enough for her so we didn't venture further. I first did some obedience with her outside the store and then we went into the little walkway where the carts and stuff are. Did lots of obedience there; heel, down, sit, center, front, and stay. She did very good with her stays, only broke a couple of times and only if someone was speaking at her. But overall the people were not bad. No one really bothered us too much and the people that did talk to me were very nice and curious. It was good for her to work on ignoring people. Only got one person who gave us a wide berth haha. After we moved out of the cart area we got into the little isle next to the registers. That whole side was a bunch of cleaning products that smelled strong even to me so she was super sniffy with it. But we worked through that distraction, center was super useful for that. I will admit I pushed her a bit too long. In my head I was like okay 10 more minutes. We only got 3 before I saw she was starting to get a bit stressed, whining and yawning, so we ended on a good note and left. Instead of 10 more minutes I should have realized that was my gut saying time to go. But I'll get better at that and the more we go the better I will get at reading her in new situations as well. It was a really great training environment and it was much needed for both of us!
