It’s really easy for me to get caught in the inconvenience of things. Little things like: how cooking can take 30 minutes from the day, laundry 15, grocery shopping 30. I get so caught up in the little things, so focused on the inconvenience of it all I forget what I am “saving” time for. In the end I just make myself endlessly busy. I spent well over a year busy. Busy, frustrated, whining; jumping from one task to the next with never enough time. I lost all enjoyment of everything even the dog; walking- a cost of 60 minutes, cooking for her - another 20. She became a chore not beloved time. As a result I was never the best version of myself to her or those around me. (Adding constant guilt to the mix).
Realizing this, I now work to change my mentality. Learning how to spend it meaningfully not just busily. But I lapse. I lapsed last night. I was tired, it was a long day and I opened the door to a muddy dog. I immediately started griping- now I need to bathe her! And then clean the bathroom after the bath! etc etc.
It was @westcoastmicrogreens‘s words - “if it’s any conciliation she had fun”, that gave me a much needed stiff right hook to the psyche.
