Another weekend backpacking in the wilderness.. this time I brought my manuscript for the absolutely final, last revision.. 🙏🏽 Ahh.. what a labor of love it has been to write “Witch’s Herbal Apothecary”! How hard it is to be uninterrupted in the life of a working, single mama and teacher! I truly had to take this book with me off grid. Luckily, while I do have another late nighter ahead of me, the book keeps winking signs of serendipity and encouragement. Like here, when I sat down in the shade of a Little Willow on the dried out riverbed, and pulled out my manuscript, I opened to the chapter where I guide the reader through the portal of the South, associated with summer, and the element of fire. “Riding the currents of south during the day”, I read. And smiled, looking around and noticing the beautiful ways that the shade, the presence of the willow, the spirit of the river, and this yin practice of reading was balancing the fire element that was so strong in the California Wilderness at noon. I would hike at Sunset, and again in the morning. And then I realized that I didn’t have a pen or any writing utensil. Oh no! How was I supposed to make any marks or notes without anything to write with! I began searching every crevice of my backpack and found another serendipitous wink, a pen that I had completely forgotten was in my pack from the summertime, made by my beloved sister witch @sheswai which says “make your magick”. And so I did.
