A heartwarming moment of a seal and a turtle having a snooze on the shores of Hawaii is incredible!
This is the Hawaiian Monk Seal, the Official State Mammal of the State of Hawaii, along with the Green Sea Turtle. There are no known cases of these two species preying upon one another, so it seems here they get along!
Sadly, the Monk Seals are one of the rarest marine mammals, unique to the Island Chain, not found anywhere else. There are estimated to only be 1100, and the recent Hurricane Walaka resulted in East Island, one of both species’ key environments, being utterly washed away!😢
Care must be taken with these unique biomes, lest they be decimated, leaving our Planet that bit duller forever...
