This is another photo I took of one of the frescoes that covered the inside of a room of a building at the ancient site of Akrotiri at Santorini, now preserved at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.
.
Such warm colours, and clean minimalist elegant brush strokes, and it looks so modern, yet it is 3,627 years old!

This is a photo I took of the frescoes that covered one of the rooms of a building at the archaeological site of Akrotiri at Santorini a and this is dated 1,627BC!.
.
This fresco is now preserved and located at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, but it gives you an idea the fluid and organic frescoes that once covered the inside walls of the buildings at ancient Thera (Santorini).

That's no tan line, that's dirt!! My dirt rind accumulated over just one day of work which included digging test units to identity the vertical extent of a site. It's something archaeologists do when we've identified or come across documentation that suggests a site exists in the location of our study. When we identify what could possibly be a site, we then have to put some work in to figure out what it means or maybe doesn't mean. I know... Vague. But it's not necessarily black and white all the time. While it's not glamorous, it's a lot of fun to get outside and get dirty. ..the archaeological staff I talked to onsite at Akrotiri told me they’ve only uncovered 1/3 of this ancient site, still 2/3 to dig up!

You’ve all heard of Pompeii which was covered in ash in a volcanic eruption in 79AD, meet Akrotiri at Santorini! The settlement was buried in volcanic ash 3,627 years ago!
.
This is just one of the photos I took when I visited the site 4 weeks ago, and walking these ancient streets was an amazing experience, and the buildings were preserved under volcanic ash, so what you so is the original buildings, absolutely amazing!
.
Akrotiri (Ακρωτήρι) was a Minoan Bronze Age settlement on the volcanic Greek island of Santorini (Thera). The settlement was destroyed in the Theran eruption about 1627 BC and buried in volcanic ash, which preserved the remains of fine frescoes and many objects and artworks. Akrotiri was also the inspiration for Plato's story of Atlantis
.
The earliest evidence for human habitation of Akrotiri can be traced back as early as the fifth millennium BC, and by the end of the third millennium, this community developed and expanded.
.
If you’re at Santorini, this is a must see, don’t just spend your time at the caldera with cocktails...which is very nice...see its ancient history...for Thera( Santorini )was Atlantis!

Now that we’ve set up the equipment to measure flows, we need to learn more about the engineering of the dike. The first step is to take a closer look at three of the critical features: the spillway, the chute, and the embankment.
.
.
.
This lidar imagery of the first feature we looked at, the spillway! Can you see where the feature was constructed on the landscape and where the breach in the embankment occurred?

Here at Highway 279 in Utah, at the top, we found these interesting Petroglyphs and Pictographs at night that depict Anthromorphs and Zoomorphs that archaeologist estimate to have been created during the 6,000 - 1000 B.C cultural period 🔎

Many of these Petroglyphs have bizarre-looking heads and bodies. The native Ute people claim to call these beings from the Archaic period their ancestors 🗿

Check out more of our findings in the Southwest of these ancient works of art on the link in bio ⬆️ #adventure#archaeology#ancientaliens#travel#southwest#utah#roadtrip#usa#highway#petroglyphs#rock#art#viajar#knowledge#travelgram#explore#operators##pdaypursuit#seizoslay#aventura#culture#interpretation#archaic#truth#ancient#ancestors#weretheyaliens

These are the Lewis or 'Uig' Chess pieces, a 12th century collection of walrus ivory chess pieces. Their name, 'Uig' stems from the bay in which they were found. In the 19th century, on a tidal beach with long grasses for grazing, a cow dislodged these marvelous chess pieces that had likely been there for centuries. Some of the chess pieces are held in The British Museum while some are in Edinburg. Each of the figures has an almost comical expression if one looks carefully, however they were most likely not intended to be viewed this way. Tempted as I was to take pics of the frescoes before the torrential rain rolled in, I had to take some snaps of the temple guard instead :) Rain or shine, Xunantunich (derives from the Yucatec Maya language and means “Stone Woman") is spellbinding was rated by my travel homies as "the coolest ruins we've ever seen". Built around 600 CE and occupied for about 400 years, it's one of the oldest known achaeological sites in Belize, which hosts the southern extent of La Selva Maya (The Mayan Forest). La Selva is the largest rainforest in Mesoamerica, is historic and contemporary home of the proud Mayan people - population around 6 million - and hosts an incredible 20 different ecosystems. Much appreciation @sarahannecarter and @kathybigfoot for letting me tag along 🙌🏾 🌴🐦

In a typical field season hundreds of cassette are used for the storage of archaeological material. Our field teams put material from each context into a different, clearly marked cassetta. These full boxes then get sent up to finds to be cleaned and processed. Typically, the finds team is able to bag up different, small units and store them together in the same box, freeing up cassette to be reused by our field teams.
.
.
Our finds intern Kyra Webb is in the middle of this process and may literally be in over her head.

The Black Pyramid, Alaska!!! A huge cover up by the American government to keep this from public knowledge and even now denied as a hoax!!! But there are some good guys who have forward from the military and spilled the beans!!! Was discovered after China tested nuclear weapons and sizemometers detected geological anomalies in Alaska which revealed a huge pyramid structure!!! UFO researcher and journalist Linda Moulton-Howe was contacted by whistle blowers!!! Said to be twice the size of Egypts largest pyramid and buried underground, again we here stories of a huge energy source/power station!!! It causes magnetic anomalies to censors and messes with aircrafts flight systems and is most definately the cause of Alaskas “Bermuda triangle!!!” Makes u wonder about the Bermuda triangle diesnt it??? Submerged ocean pyramid maybe.....????🤔🤔 #wakeup #truth #true #lies #history #forbiddenhistory #coverup #archaeology #pyramid #pyramids #alaska #blackpyramid #elite #government #politics #aliens #alien #ancientaliens #ancienthistory #science #technology
