The latest wines have arrived in Llanarthne, direct from the Loire.
Ariane Lesné worked as a retailer, than a wine agent, then made the move into producing her own wines after falling in love with natural winemaking. She worked at an estate in Burgundy for 5 years, before taking over the reins at Emile Heredia's estate Domaine de Montrieux at the end of 2014. She lives there now with her Husband Martin, a potter who uses the ashes of Ariane's vines to make glazes for his pots. We have three of her wines in the U.K:

Grandgousier is 100% Pineau d'Aunis from 40-120 year old vines, whole bunch,
9 months maceration! Very low sulphur. Haunting, elegant Pineau d'Aunis.

Phylactere is a Pétillant Natural made from a variant of gamay that has red juice when pressed. Direct press, bottled with 10g residual sugar to give bubbles and disgorged after 18 months of aging. No sulphites added. It's a fun and delicious, off dry aperitif.
Pétillant d’Aunis is made from a direct press of a hectare of Pineau d'Aunis grapes, Ariane purchases. Direct press, then bottled with 3g of residual sugar to give the bubbles. A Pet Nat with real depth, elegance and length. No sulfites added.

Le Picrochole est un Pineau d’Aunis.
C’est un vin rouge de Loire issu du Domaine de Montrieux, qui composé de vieilles vignes, produit majoritairement ce cépage endémique de la région : le pineau d’Aunis.
C’est Ariane Lesné qui a repris l’exploitation au début de l’année 2015. Elle cultive son raisin selon les principes de l'agriculture biologique et le récolte uniquement à la main !

Le Picrochole a une robe cerise noire et l’on devine une palette aromatique complexe où dominent le poivre et les fruits des bois.
