Hi 👋🏼 I thought I should reintroduce myself! I'm Philippa Hayward, founder of Aabelard! Some of you may know me, but for those who haven't yet received an apron from me for your Birthday or Christmas 😂 here's a little bit of background:
After my drama degree I went into publishing, working for Random House and Penguin. I set up Quick Reads for World Book Day – a great series of short books for adults with lower literacy levels by established authors.
Italy, Spain and Saudi Arabia are places I’m lucky enough to know well, after living and travelling abroad. It’s definitely given me a global outlook.
Life is about being brave. After having seen my three wonderful children through their early school years, I decided time was ripe for doing something more.
I’ve always been creative. After having children I made and sold my own jewellery.
I live in an apron. But I love beautiful clothes too. If they have to be covered up for practical reasons, why not make the apron just as beautiful?
I love colour! It was one of my favourite things about living abroad, the extraordinary colours that seem to help define a country. I particularly love orange - such a vibrant colour. You might just spot some in the Aabelard branding... Family time, reading and cooking are my passions. I’m not a great cook but I love experimenting and teaching my boys as my mother, and father, taught me. (My dad made an incredible chicken curry!) 🥘
Travel is the greatest luxury. Learning about other peoples and experiencing even the smallest detail of somewhere new, the smells, sounds, tastes, keeps me excited. I love to travel! 🤹🏼♀️
