YOU WANT A LITTLE MORE 🙌🏼
Here’s part III of my Asanas series. The inversions.

Namaste guys 🙏🏼 SERIES III:
1. Salamba Sirsasana (Supported Headstand) - here’s some news folks, your head hardly takes a beating here at all. All of your weight is actually supported in your forearms. So keeping those suckers lined up under your shoulders from your elbows (boxing your head in) making this pose safer for your neck. I also like to clasp my fingers together and slide a couple pinkies between my head and the mat, acting like a wedge for balance. Press through your shoulders for a straighter pose and breeeeathe.
2. Pincha Mayurasana (Forearm Stand) - Your fingers are your counterbalance here. Your damn finger tips. I personally like to have my hands flat on my mat for better grip and a longer hold. You can also have your hands in prayer if that works better for your body. To each their own! My tip here is nice wide rock climber hands and tent your fingers for counter balance. You’ll want to think about stacking your hips over your shoulders keeping your ribs knitted in and your core completely engaged. Oh. And breeeeathe.
3. Vrschikasana (Scorpion Handstand) - Honestly holding a scorpion posture in your handstand feels a lot easier than trying to straighten out at first. Again tenting your fingers is your counter balance here. Think of rounding your back over a barrel rather than flopping your legs down and collapsing your back. This comes from your core strength as you push your chest forward and round your legs overhead. This all comes with time. Never allow your back to fold or collapse. Core strength is essential to keeping a strong spine in Scorpion so make sure that’s fully engaged AND DEVELOPED! Also always make sure your hips are floating over your shoulders, anywhere else and you’re falling in that direction. Good luck! And breathe! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏿🙏🏿

I’ve been abused many times by many people in my life. Emotional, physical, sexual and verbal. When I spoke out last year about being raped, I had family members disown me for it. I was told I embarrassed them and then called a liar (and many other horrible names). The words “I’m ashamed of you” still ring in my ear. It was painful and hurt me so deeply but I let those people go. I haven’t spoken to them since. I know my speaking out helped many women also share their truth. I have been able to overcome, heal and speak out about most of my abuse yet with others I haven’t and it really bothers me. I vacillate between being strong and courageous on certain issues to feeling weak and intimidated on others. It makes me sick to my stomach actually. I’ve allowed myself to be bullied and manipulated by people who have more money, huge egos and big expensive lawyers. I also try to be conscious not to “offend” anyone on this platform but really, why am I afraid of that? People need to get offended sometimes. Don’t you agree? The most memorable people who changed history offended many. Jesus Christ, Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, & Abraham Lincoln just to name a few.

Happy Monday! I was so sick this past week 😢 but I finally finished 45 days of Core and Inversion work (Next Level Core with @patrickbeach on @codyapp)! Made a huge difference on my core control - I can float! I found better balance and a vertical line in headstand. 😁

Day 2 of the #7daysofgratefulness yoga challenge is Eagle aka Garudasana! I decided to do a mix of eagle crossing my legs with revolved chair aka Parivrtta Utkatasana with hands in prayer 😘 Eagle pose has balance, strength, and flexibility and revolved chair brings length and lightness to our spine and expands our chest. It was my first time doing this mix and it was quite challenging! 😁 Today I feel grateful for my speech as it gives me the outlet to express myself.
