Creating a ceremony that is utterly, completely ~you~ can be hard. After all, there are years upon years of traditions, of opinions, of ‘this is the way it’s always done.’ There are countless wedding magazines and blogs that tell you what’s on trend and how to incorporate it, of what to budget and how to impress your guests, of what to avoid and what is ‘timeless’.
Let’s go back to the basics.
The two of you want to make a commitment- how that looks exactly and the promises you are making vary. But what you do know is that you want to celebrate this next step with the people dear to you, that you want to say the words aloud- not because your partner doesn’t know them, but because you believe them with all your heart and want everyone to know it.
So when you plan your ceremony, go back to that. To the love you share, the promises you want to make, the people you want to hear them. Forget about traditions, about people pleasing, about how fancy or how low-key is should be. Celebrate each other, celebrate your love- however it looks for you.
