See that knee? The one on the left (it's actually my right knee). See the size? There's my left knee on the right for comparison. .
It's a long story on what happened there, but it pretty much happened after I ran my first (and last 😔) full marathon, ran the whole 26.2 miles, might I add 😁. Doctors weren't able to figure out what the deal was and I gave up. That knee ended my running life (which I loved).
......
That knee led to issues with my left knee (another long story), so I have two bad knees. Sometimes the left hurts more, sometimes it's the right.
......
For YEARS, I could not figure out how to get back in shape. I figured no running meant no strong legs. And maybe if I didn't eat as much, I can just be smaller...
.....
But!!!! I have figured it out and now I may be in the best shape of my life! I am strong and I eat well!

Okay I know what your probably thinking 🤔, that this may look too easy and not worth doing but In reality these are very important just because sometimes when we hit legs we don’t really focus on a small muscle called the glutes. and while you are squatting and thinking on how can I improve my squats or even your vertical jump, which is probably everyone, then you should be doing these right now!!! Got my workout in today and boy did it kick my butt! It's insane how a few days of eating unhealthy can make you feel so sluggish! But, here's to a start of a week and getting back on track! 💪

Ever been at the gym and been WAY intimidated by all the people lifting weights and knowing exactly what they were doing??
Yup!! That was me 👋🏼

Paid a ridiculous amount of money each month so I could go to the gym and stand around and lift a few baby weights and run on the treadmill. I wanted to be healthy but had zero idea what i was doing. Aaaaand I HATE working out in front of people. 🙅🏼‍♀️introvert probs!

Fast forward to today.
No more paying for gym memberships I don’t use.
No more intimidation getting in the way of working out.
I am so much stronger right now than I was two years ago.... and it’s because of at home workouts that challenge me every.single.day!! I’ve never sweat so much in my life 🙊

The thing about moving forward and getting better along the way is REFLECTION 👀. If you don’t stop to take a look at how far you’ve come, the work you put in daily doesn’t always seem worth it. Always appreciate the road you travel. Every bump and dead end along the way too. 🚧 .

Reflection builds one's confidence in the ability to achieve a goal. That’s what keeps you going. Keeps your fire 🔥 burning. Sometimes I feel like I’ve still got SO FAR to go and that I’ve barely made any changes....and then I do a side by side comparison and check myself 💃🏼. REFLECTING on what has been learned makes experience more productive. SO KEEP GOING. Take time to see and be proud of how far you’ve come, even if it’s nowhere near where you’re wanting to be. You’ll get there as long as you take it one day at a time, appreciate your effort and take in the lessons along the way. 🧘🏼‍♀️ .

Making sure i am ready for the week and staying consistent with my meal prepping. Having food and snacks available prevents me from making those in the moment or fast food on the go decisions for meals that are usually bad. Most people decide what they want to want eat based what they see in passing or from being quick or cheap. After that, then they worry about how bad it is lol. Have a plan....plan for success 👍 .

Happy sweaty Sunday!! Elissa here again and I have to be honest I did NOT want to workout today. I was tired and just felt lazy. Sometimes I give in to that if I feel I really need a break but most often I find it better for me to get up and do it anyway. So here is a quick sweaty HIIT session coming in hot:

30 seconds on, 10 seconds off for 4 rounds:

1) DB squat and press right arm
2) mountain climbers
3) DB squat and press left arm
4) “box” jump
5) push-up with shoulder taps
6) 2 squat jumps, 2 oblique crunches (got this move from @whitneyysimmons and looove/hate it😜)
7) Ball slam burpees

Today included sleeping more than 4 hours...going to church services...lunch at Portillo’s (amazing)...back to the apartment &&&& bam, Steve shut his finger in the car door. .

Off to the Urgent Care Center we went (it was pretty deep). Some glue & a tetanus shot later & we’re back on schedule.

Things don’t always go according to plan.
That’s ok
We were created with the ability to adjust!! Some may not like it, but it IS possible! .
Then fast forward past the nap that I still had to get before tackling the drive home with both dogs....

Speaking of which, I think I’ve discovered my new favorite #comfyoutfit .
Next year, I plan to be dressed up and walking across the stage (again) at #coachsummit.
But today it was:
Leggings-from my daughter, all I know is that she ordered them online & I love them (yes, they have paw prints all over them) 🐾
Shirt - I bought a year or so ago from Sam’s Club...I love their clothes!
Threw on some tennis shoes and this #Dogmom was ready to go!! .

Wanting to achieve specific physical goals is what drove me to train in the first place. What has kept me at it for years goes beyond that. •
Once you decide to take care of your physical health. Once you decide you are worth the time, effort, sacrifice and hard it takes to put yourself first everyday for an hour or two, then other things start falling into place. Except they don’t always fall neatly, usually areas of your life you either ignore or don’t even realize are there become apparent and they also need work. •
Once I started working through my physical barriers I discovered my mental barriers. Once I started working on my mental barriers I discovered deep emotional barriers that were holding me back from succeeding in different areas of my life. Piece by piece I’m sorting, one thing at a time, really giving each one time for me to understand so I know how to either change it or make it work for me. •
Physical health and wellness is just the doorway to overall physical, mental and emotional health and wellness. I’ve seen it over and over again. Ultimately it is leading me to a space where I am in control of my overall happiness instead of letting false, limiting beliefs, people’s opinions, society’s ideals and the negative destructive dialogue that happens in my head when I am experiencing depression. •
I wanted to explain my thoughts in a better manner - so I wrote about it on my site on the blog except it won’t post(😭) so I’ll do another post when I get it posted. 🤞🏻

If you kept doing what you’re doing now..what would you look and feel like in a few years? Shoot 20 years? I am proof these programs work and I’ve got lots of girls who are proof as well. So if doing what you’re doing isn’t work…if it terrifies you to imagine how much worse it will get in the years to come (because it normally does) then LETS EFFING CHANGE IT! Rewrite that future.
I personally am having issues with my medications and possibly my thyroid so I’m extra fluffy heading into summer and I’m NOT stoked on it. I remember how just over a year ago I was sitting right where you are: staring at a screen of some random chick going on about workouts and shakes and her newfound appreciation of self love. I was confused...🤔How could working out for 30 min a day and drinking a smoothie 🌱equate to being happy?

I remember watching my coach’s stories and posts in awe, wondering what the hell was in those superfood shakes🥤 getting her so amped about life ⚡️to keep doing that shit to herself WILLINGLY 😂#girlyoucray🤚🏼 #nosweatforme 💦 but I could FEEL her energy through her posts. This chick 🐣 was legit. I may not have had a clue who this girl was. But what I did know about myself was how unhappy and uncomfortable I was in my own skin. How lost I felt after a breakup and some MAJOR life hurdles, without a clue where to turn. I was searching for a something or a someone to make me happy. I never realized that the answer all along was ME.

This opportunity has forced me to come to terms with my fears and insecurities. Its pushed me out of my comfort zone〰️. It’s helped me grow and bloom into the best version of myself. I’ve never known love and support like I have found with this group of ladies. My boss babes👯‍♀️, my friends, MY TRIBE.

I used to think running was the only type of workout that existed...especially if you wanted #cardio in your life🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve learned to love strength building and #athomeworkouts! I can now get a variety of workouts done in my own home with my #workoutnetflix ...and my at home cardio? I burn more calories doing that than on a 3 mile run🙌🏼 Give me all the cardio AND the strength building!!

"Age is nothing but a number" Autumn Calabrese made this statement during my workout this afternoon and it got me thinking. As an on line fitness coach and aerobics instructor I've lost track of how many times I've had women tell me they can't lose weight or they can't have the body they want because of their age. I get it, I used this excuse too. Hell sometimes I still try to. My jeans won't fit? It's because I'm 45. My stomachs bloated? It's because I'm 45. Straight up that's bullshit. When you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and don't even recognize yourself! Appreciate those results! Ten months postpartum and 8 pant sizes down!
Did i mention how good I feel? Depression gone, headaches gone, fatigue well.....I still have kids 😂😂😂But now I have a little more energy to keep up with them lol.

Not going to lie, I’m really nervous about going camping! For the past 10ish years the first part of summer holidays I spend camping with great friends and we always have great memories. Every year though I gain weight during this time because of drinking, eating like queens and kings and not much physical exercise. The year before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism that camping trip I gained 20lbs in 2.5 weeks. So I’m nervous to go camping!! I’m bringing my weights, downloading workouts and meal prepping. I know I need to keep accountable and my support group in my bootcamps will help with just that! New bootcamp starting tomorrow and it’s going to get me through this camping trip! So if you want to join me in the bootcamp and help keep each other motivated to keep going let me know there is still room. It’s never to late to start!

A small hotel gym has really forced me to get creative with workouts and do as much as I can outdoors - don’t let lack of space or no gym stop you! There are so many things you can do with a small space and some determination 💪🏼 bonus if you have a few resistance bands but always optional 👍🏼

Fun fact - after doing this workout someone came up and said they were inspired to go work out 🙌🏻 hopefully it inspires others out there too!

I’m so so tired but very happy with what I accomplished for myself tonight. I conquered some fears. Crushed some goals that seemed pretty remote just a year ago...especially at the age of 47. Like I continue to say... age is just a number. You’re never to old to make a change. We all have our own personal demons, our own struggles and battles. You just have to be intentional in your thoughts and goals. The first thing you need to do is change your mindset ... your mind is very powerful and your thoughts, good or bad, will drive your path.
So... here’s to a new page, in a new chapter in my life.

What an accomplishment even if we don’t win... we have won already because we did it!! We stepped out of our comfort zones... pushed some limits and proved we could get here.
