Audi 80 – A true classic design 🖤🔘🔘🔘🔘🖤 ... Monochrome Style (108) 🎬 … =========================
(1984, Audi 80, 1,6 l, 75 hp ... The short story – extracts: The Audi 80 (in North America it was known as “Audi 4000”) was produced by the Audi subdivision of the Volkswagen Group across four generations from 1966 to 1996. Under Audi's platform numbering convention, the 80 is classified as a member of the B-series or B platform family of cars, with the four generations of 80 being numbered as B1, B2, B3 and B4 ... the Audi 80 in this photo shoot is an Audi 80 B2 (series 2, four-door sedan, type 81), which was produced between 1978-1986.
The true classic body lines of the Audi 80 B2 was designed by the fantastic Giorgetto Giugiaro from Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A, which is a design and engineering company and brand founded in Moncalieri, Turin in Italy, that traces its roots to the 1968 foundation of Studi Italiani Realizzazione Prototipi S.p.A by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani. … it’s probably one of the most successful car designing companies ever ... having more than 60 millions production vehicles (and besides from that also launched a very large number of “show cars”) launched onto the market by worldwide leading car makers.
Giorgetto Giugiaro is a living legend (age 80 now) within the car design history – e.g. he was named Car Designer of the Century in 1999 and inducted (very well deserved) into the Automotive Hall of Fame in 2002 🤟
He was the designer of epic cars like e.g. the Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Coupés with e.g. the Sprint, GT and GTV as well as more “straight-lined” designs such as e.g. the BMW M1, Lotus Esprit S1, and Maserati Bora followed before a softer approach returned in e.g. the Maserati Merak ... but also e.g. the famous DeLorean DMC-12, featured prominently in the Hollywood blockbuster series Back to the Future came from his hands as well as e.g. the Volkswagen Golf Mk1., which probably was his most commercially successful design from him.)
