The biggest challenge that people have with being themselves is that they don’t know who they are. It’s no wonder how so many of us spend so much time comparing ourselves to the insta perfect life, body and bank account.
My journey to this depth of comfort, authenticity and vulnerability has been a product of decades of deeply uncomfortable, painful yet rewarding work and self discovery to go - ‘this is who I am’ and ‘I’m okay with me’. And who I am now will likely change by tomorrow, if not in the next 15 minutes, let alone the next 10 years.
For me having a level of acceptance has been the key. Accepting of who I am in each moment and who I am becoming every day.
The more i find out who I am, I know that I’m a tight shirt, jeans, sneakers kind of guy. Sure I can wear a nice suit but it ain't me baby. I wore suits for almost a decade and a half even though i hated how they felt, hated wearing them, hated how they looked and hated how they felt against my skin.
I wore them because i thought it would make me more credible. But if you can’t take me seriously now in a t-shirt, a pair of board shorts and thongs, then don’t take me seriously at all. My soul, my spirt, my personality, my intuitive nature and my intellect will prevail.
The only way you’ll know who you are is by spending time with yourself and coming clean with who you are, inside and out and being ok with what you find. It's not about beating yourself up to create change, it’s about accepting who you are so that you are free to be able to blossom without the resistance and guilt of self judgment.
And after all this time my biggest lesson? I love who I am and who I am becoming. And I love who you are and also who you are becoming.
We have a long way to go and we can move quicker, not only if we stick together as a team, but also if we allow ourselves to put our bags down.
It's hard to move quickly in life when you are weighed down by the things we carry that could simply be let go of.
I love you all so much, thank you for giving me the platform to share my life with you.
