When our son was first diagnosed we were alone. We literally had no one. We didn't have any family or friends who knew anyone who had Autism, no one really understood what it even meant. So in a a whole new world We were lost. We worked so hard to get to where We are as parents, educating ourselves and others. We then stated that We would do what We could to give back. We did not want others to feel as if they were alone either.
We have created a few things along the way, such as support groups, Spoke at an Autism conference, this blog. We have ALWAYS shared our journey with close friends and family.
There is nothing better for Us than to be able to help others. We wish there were people for Us when We started this journey so, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade, and We feel We have done just that.
Just because life is challenging and stressful and hard, does not mean you can't be there for others. This has also helped Us, in our times of need as well. It doesn't take much, a simple call, text, facebook post, message.
A little goes a long way in this Autism world, you would be surprised how far it goes <3
