Brightening up this Wednesday with a mid-day Turmeric Latte :⁠

Blend up: .⁠

-4 tablets @truvani turmeric (or 1 tsp ground organic turmeric + a pinch of black pepper so you can absorb the turmeric!).⁠
-1.5 cups 365 unsweetened almond milk OR canned lite organic coconut milk.⁠
-1 tbs yukon syrup (or sub dates, maple syrup, raw honey, coconut nectar).⁠
-pinch cardamon.⁠
-pinch sea salt.⁠

☝🏻A quick note on turmeric and its recent spike in popularity--> people are jumping on this turmeric bandwagon expecting these life-changing results. And here are my thoughts on that:⁠

Yes, it is does have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Which is great. But so do walnuts... and blueberries... and salmon. Yes it supports the liver... but so do cruciferous veggies (like cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage).. and greens. And yes, it can help heal the gut... but so does ginger and avoiding processed foods.⁠

My point here is that the food industry and media LOVE to create a hyper focus on a specific food which then takes on a life of its own... becomes super trendy... and is then being marketed and added to everything on planet earth with a higher price tag (does this sound like something that miggghttt be happening with CBD, anyone?). Everything 👏🏻 is 👏🏻done👏🏻 for👏🏻 money.⁠

When it comes down to it, the best thing you can do for yourself is to make the choice to eat whole foods, avoid processed ones, and avoid making food choices based on whatever is trendy at the moment.⁠

For me, turmeric is a welcomed, lovely, warming spice that is good for my soul and supports my wellbeing & health goals. It certainly has benefits, but I do NOT expect it to cure me of all my woes!⁠

Este texto lo escribí el año pasado al cumplirse 3 años desde que abrí el primer consultorio en Lima. Hoy en día con @medicina_del_sol reitero mis palabras 😊

Ya 7 años desde estas fotos. Iniciaba mis estudios profesionales de medicina ayúrvedica en el Australasian Institute of Ayurvedic Studies en Australia, y aunque el Ayurveda ya había llegado a mi hacía como 10 años antes de estas fotos, recién en ese momento, y gracias a algunas personas, pude estudiarla profesionalmente.
A los pocos meses conocí a la directora de la clínica Back2Health en Brisbane, una de las primeras y principales clínicas ayurvédicas en Australia. Ella me pidió que forme parte de su equipo y yo obviamente acepté. Trabajé ahí por más de 2 años y fue una de las principales experiencias del inicio de mi carrera. Aprendí muchísimo de la mano de doctores ayurvédicos experimentados, tanto en consultas como tratamientos.
En el camino escuché muchos comentarios graciosos provenientes de colegas, amigos y hasta familiares, como por ejemplo: “has estudiado 7 años para dar masajes y sanar con piedritas?” O, tienes que ser una "doctora de verdad". Sabía que ellos no lo entenderían y yo seguía mi camino.
Luego, por azares del destino, tuve que regresar a Lima, y vine con todas las ganas de compartir todo lo aprendido en los últimos años y abrí el primer consultorio. No fue fácil al inicio, y a la par trabajaba como médico general para una clínica limeña. Pero no aguanté mucho, y decidí dedicarme de lleno a mi consultorio de Medicina Ayurvédica. Y como todo lo que se hace con amor y pasión,  comenzó a fluir todo muy bien y cada vez compartía mis conocimientos con más y más personas, incluyendo aquellos que no confiaban mucho. Este mes cumplo 4 años desde que abrí el primer consultorio y no me arrepiento ni un segundo. Muchas gracias a todos los que formaron parte del camino, pero principalmente a los pacientes que confiaron y confían en mi desde el inicio.
Este año se vienen muchas novedades que ya les iré contando.

Der, hvor den burde være og dér, hvor vores prana - vitale energi kan flyde frit.

Som jeg ser det, kan en yogapraksis uden fokus på alignment være tilegnet begyndere, der blot skal lære at trække vejret... og så til meget trænet yogaudøvere, der kende kroppens alignment, bevæge muligheder og stillingerne.

Is essential this time of year. We are on the cusp of the fall equinox, but are already experiencing seasonal shifts. Fall is a season of change. In Ayurveda fall is associated with vata dosha, which is a combination of air + ether elements. If you’re already entering this season feeling anxious, frazzled, and ungrounded - you may experience an increase in these feelings. It is purported that the Alkaline Food Diet will ‘energize’ you and even ‘cure cancer.’ This is such epic level BULLSHIDO, it causes me to hyperventilate, which does make my blood alkaline (negligibly). The claims here are that various diseases are caused by acidic blood. The main problem with the concept is that it is impossible to alter the pH of a person’s blood without causing severe health concerns. Mammalian blood contains a vast number of different pH buffers which evolved to automatically raise or lower the blood pH if even a slight deviation occurs. These buffers keep the pH of human blood between 7.35 and 7.45. If one’s blood pH fluctuates by as little as 5% in either direction of these parameters, death will result. It is commonly claimed by alkaline diet proponents that cancer cells are killed in an alkaline environment, which is true, but so are almost all other cells in the human body. I’m so perplexed as to how eating a lemon (pH = 2.3) or rhubarb (pH = 3) could possible raise your pH? What about apple cider vinegar (acetic acid)? Isn’t that supposed to be good for you? C02 + H20 →H2CO3→H+ + HCO3- people. This is all a crock of nonsense dressed up in a shiny new Bullshido kimono.
