HOW to carve canyons and gorges into your BACK?? Focus on big compound movements which allow you to move the most amount of weight:
1) Weighted Pull-ups - use pronated, supinated and neutral grip variations. These are the primary exercise to build wide lats that spread like wings. A good strength target to shoot for is 40% of BW added for 5 reps.
2) Bent Over Barbell Row - heavy rows add slabs of meat onto your back like no other. Focus on getting just slightly above parallel to the ground, bracing your core hard to maintain positioning and driving back with the elbows. I recommend 5 sets x 5-8 reps.
