A lovestory ❤️ - Part 2
Born in difficult times, as a son of a Duke, related to the emporer,
the father in captivity or on the run, deprived of the duchy,
he was given on the custody of the bishop of Freising at the age of five.
He received an education that gave him great education.
At the age of 21, with his father, who was granted mercy, reunited, they shared the Duke's reign.
After the death of his father in 995 he became Duke of Bavaria as Heinrich IV.
He found his love and luck in Kunigunde of Luxembourg, whom he married.
After the death of the emporer Otto III. he obtained the title of king in 1002 using a deception maneuver, finally in 1014 the imperial dignity.
He supported the Church and the monasteries throughout his life, he founded and donated together with his wife numerous churches and monasteries.
Church and bishops were an important support against the power of the nobility and the princes.
Probably also because the marriage remained childless, that's why they started to build a cathedral (1002 - 1012), as a future tomb and memorial..... and probably as a guarantee for the entry into the kingdom of heaven. 😉
And so they lived happily to the end of their days.
