Today wraps up week 8 of my hypertrophy training and bulk! With 4 weeks remaining before I decide if I’m in need of any more bulking or whether I get on to a shred again there’s still plenty of work to be done.
I’ll continue to lift before work, before the sun comes up and before anyone else is awake. There’s #goals to hit, there’s weight to move and a a #physique to transform.

3 months into my bulk and I am feeling great. As you can see, I traded my black hat in for a tan one, my pop stop for an otter box and gray sweatpants in for black ones.

I have added some muscle mass as well as strength over these past few months. I wanted to emphasize the fact that not everyone stays lean all year long if the are trying to “bulk”. In order to add muscle mass, you need to increase your calorie intake in order to meet the demands as far as your metabolic rate goes. Metabolic rate takes into consideration: age, body composition, activity level, etc. Do not be afraid to add a little fat during your bulking season, it is natural.

I trained chest and arms in the garage today and achieved a pretty good bicep pump at the end using the @gunsmith_fitness @grenadier_grips ! I finished off with a few sets of barbell curls with slow negatives and some dumbbell preacher curls. I managed to get a pretty good mind-muscle connection during preachers, the last photo is a forced rep at the end of my set! .

The Seated barbell curl. Another almost forgotten exercise. I like to pair this with seated incline curls. The strongest portion of the curl is the top half of the arc. The seated barbell curl allows you to hit the biceps hard without to much forearm recruitment. Generally most people they will fail during the lower portion of the curl which is governed predominantly by the brachioradialis (the muscles around the elbow joint, forearms etc.

Sit tall, shoulders down and back and avoid swinging the bar into action.
.
Lift the barbell for 1-2 secs almost explosively off your lap. Lower for 3-4 seconds.
.
At the bottom position, pause but do not allow the barbell to rest on your upper legs- keep the biceps engaged the whole time.

With normal curls, the weight feels lighter on your #biceps once you pass the midpoint. The forward lean of this style of spider curls allows you to keep your arms in front of your body, but still feel the tension closer to the point of max contraction. If you're not fighting the weight on the way down, you're robbing yourself of #gainz !
#arms holding size at 21.5 inches. No strength gainz, but volume gainz. Not super heavy, but 30 total sets of shoulders and arms today. You are not #overtraining 🤫
