The season is coming, but a true hunter is out there through all the seasons, understanding nature, and the movement and behaviour of the hunted - knowing the object of their hunt long before the hunt. Literally, often well aware of the very buck or bull they will take to satisfy their family food needs. The truly great hunters I know, have an unexpected intimacy and understanding for the animals, who they track and hunt. Once the time comes to harvest, there is respect. If you have the chance to find your food this way, you are blessed. I have spent many years of my life as a vegetarian, and am veg again now, because I don’t participate this fully with the process so I choose to bow out from this kind of relationship with the animals. I choose to capture them with a camera. This Colorado Elk bull was corralling his herd with such incredible majesty. I’m hooked on witnessing them, and with full respect of a great hunter.
