One day in August of 2017, I took the kids to the park. After playing on the swing for a little while my 7 year old, Shayan, wanted to climb the jungle. He had been afraid to climb it before, because he thinks it’s too high and he might fall. That day he asked me to climb it with him. I gently declined. However, I assured him that I will be right beside him and will catch him in case he slipped. He was a little hesitant, but after a little encouragement he started to climb. He took a few steps and became afraid again. I reminded him to ask Allah miyan for help, to ask Him to protect and guide his steps. In my heart I also made this duaa for him. Once he finished making his duaa he felt confident and started to climb higher and higher, carefully moving around from one edge to another. He seemed to be really enjoying being able to climb to the top. When he finally climbed back down he told me how happy and proud he felt about climbing up and back down without being afraid. He clarified that it was his duaa and all he had to do was act and take steps because the rest was in Allah miyan’s hands. It is He who makes things happen we only have to do actions. I looked at him with amazement and appreciated him for his perspective.
This was such a simple concept for him to grasp, yet we all struggle to understand this fundamental truth to trust in God and let go. Most of us are not able to completely let go and surrender. We become fearful and put all trust in our own efforts forgetting that it is never in our hands to begin with. Our job is to put in 💯 sincere effort and result is in God’s hands only
It was a beautiful reminder for me from a 7 year old. I believe that we can all gain so much knowledge if we learn to analyze life through a child’s eyes. There is immense wisdom hidden in the way they interpret life.
