There are certain people in life that you just say “yes” to without question, because the trust in each other and the friendship is that strong. A few years ago my dear friend @mitchjpearce (aka BFF) called me one night, and I don’t know that he asked so much as he TOLD me I was going to play the lead in a short film his wife @sarampearce (also my dear friend) wrote and that he was the EP. I fibbed a little at the beginning of this, I did ask one question, “Uummmm are you sure you want ME to do it?! 😳” I’ll be honest, I was so insecure about my abilities, I was even more terrified that I was going to ruin my friend’s film. There was zero hesitation in his response, Mitch and Sara gave me courage and faith in myself that I didn’t know I had, and they continue to do so to this day. It was my first lead role in any film, it was a “first” of different degrees for several involved who’ve now gone on to do many more lovely, amazing projects and continue to build their careers. This past Sunday we all came together again because @theladiesroomfilm was accepted into the Culture & Diversity Film Festival, where we won Best Ensemble!
In my opinion, we’ve won “best ensemble” a million times over through this process, but it was quite lovely for it to be recognized by others. True success cannot be measured by the surface level things of this world, and though I’m immensely proud of the project and that we won an award, there aren’t enough accolades in the world that could fill my soul with more joy than when I looked around that room sharing those fun moments with these wonderful people. We’re a helluva team, and I’m honored to be part of it! Congratulations to everyone involved!!💕
