Our guide told us during the older times in Bhutan, there are “night hunters”... man who will sneak into other ladies room at night.. Therefore all the windows are narrower and some places, the windows are even fenced up.. #randomphotowithdeepmeaning #jamietravels #conquertheworld #bhutan #bhutanarchitecture #traditionalarchitecture #traditionalhouse

The Bhutanese window.(gochu)
PAYAB GOCHU #BhutanArchitecture
The Payab Gochu, which is a traditional
Bhutanese window that is embedded within the facade walls of a building, is an important element of traditional Bhutanese architecture.
There are many different styles of Payab. The 3 main types of distinctive Payab Gochu in ancient traditional Bhutanese architecture are:
1. Horgo Payab,
2. Lingo Payab,
3. Gedkar Payab,
The 4th style of Payab, which has been in use only for the past 70 years in Bhutanese
architecture, is known as Boego Payab. .

If I was forced to choose one most impressive destination for my Bhutan trip. My answer without hesitation is 'Taktsang Monastery' on Paro Valley, the journey to there is remarkable and unforgettable!!! Start from the horse-riding then sweaty up and down hill legwork-trekking through steep, treacherous terrain in Paro Valley of Bhutanese Himalayas, combating fickle weather, high altitudes sickness. Finally, the dense fog parts and before you, there you are- right before your eyes, perched precariously on the mountainside. The Tiger's Nest, or better known as Paro Taktsang Monastery. It's worthwhile enough for all your sweat and leg-shaking for the breathtaking picturesque scenic view and the whole day spent to be here.

Last but not least, Captured the fine details of Bhutanese Arts, Architecture, Decorative Arts, Craftsmanship and Etc. along the journey of Western Bhutan where most of Bhutanese civilization has been developed since history from former capital city of Punakha in Himalayan Valley to Thimphu-Paro Valley, probably it's not overdo to say that Bhutan is one of magic and majestic country, abundance both in culture and nature that has make Bhutan worth visiting

Kya Ada kya jalwe tere Paro!! Dil ke tukde ho Gaye Hazaron :) . My phone lens, hasn’t done enough justice to this place. All buildings here follow the traditional design specifications laid out nationally. It’s a treat to the eyes to walk through the Paro Main Street with the mountains as the backdrop. The buildings are beautiful, holding Bhutan in colorful pride ! See photo #2 for a close up of a store wall.
This was a time when I clicked with Moto g2. Yes that’s right! Because lack of a DSLR or lack of a pricey phone cannot be a reason to not capture beautiful places. As the saying goes...It’s not the camera that matters it’s the composition! #mobilephotography #bhutandiaries #happinessisaplace
Ps: Paro is also the base location to trek to the very famous Tiger nest monastery.

Dochula Pass, approximately 25 kms. from capital city of Thimphu, 3150 metres above sea-level along the highway to Punakha Dzongkhag (or district), Dochula Pass overlooks the northern-eastern territories of Bhutan, on a fine clear day offers prestine views of the picturesque scenic surrounding countryside, as well as the northern mountain ranges bordering the Tibetan plateau. Moreover also able to see Mt. Gangkhar Puensum, a pure white-peaked all year snow-covered mountain with the 7,570 metres hight considered to be the highest sacred unclimbed mountain in the world.

In 2003, the Queen Mother of the fifth King of Bhutan's Wangchuck Dynasty (the present Bhutan King) approved the construction of 108 chortens here, in order to honor the Bhutanese soldiers who were killed in the fight to expel a rogue group of Indian Rebels from Assam state, in the southern districts of Bhutan. The chortens now serve as a sacred legacy of the nation and the Bhutanese people. Whereas Chorten is also to be considered as a unique Bhutanese Arts and Architectural style.

The splendid Thashi Chho Dzong, located on the north of Thimphu city on the west bank of the Wang Chhu(River), lending the city both Bhutanese regal splendor and Country Capital's monastic weight. So this Dzong was the site of the lavish formal royal coronation of the present king of Bhutan, the fifth King of Wangchuck Dynasty in 2008(The Bhutan's King Palace is very close to the Dzong) and hosts the city's biggest annual bash, the colorful Riligious Bhutanese Tsechu festivities(The focal point of the Tsechu is Charm Dances; with consumed, masked typically related to moral vignettes or Ancient Bhutanese Bhudism Belief)

Atop Simtoma Dzong in Thimphu hill, the capital and largest city of Bhutan, seated a massive, gigantic golden Shakayamuni Buddha 'Dordenma' sitting on gilded basement surrounded by the Bodisatva statues below.
Inside of Thimphu’s 169 foot Buddha Dordenma statue, there are 125,000 miniature Buddhas encapsulated inside of its enlightened bronze chest, ranging from 8 to 12 inches tall. This means that in Thimphu, which has a population of around 100,000, there are more Buddhas than there are human beings.

Like the large Buddha, these thousands of miniature Buddhas are also gilded and made of bronze, a major reason that the statue cost almost $100 million to build when it was constructed in 2015 to honor the 60th birthday of Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the fourth King of Wangchuck Dynasty of Bhutan.

Paro Dzong's Utse, One of the most important building in Bhutanese Dzong architecture, 'Utse' literally means 'Central Tower', 'Ut-se' reflects the combination of Tibet Arts by Fortress-shape with high Whitewashed robust Wall, red color painted on the top (Red color particularly painted symbolically for Monastery only in Bhutan)no door at the basement only fine decorating windows high above, meanwhile the wooden sloppy roof with gold dome reflects Nepali Arts because of more rain here in Bhutan Valley when compare to Tibet

Punakha, once was very important city as formerly capital city of Bhutan before move to Thimphu (in order to more close to India), so the stunning beauty white washed wall of Punakha Dzong had played a significant role, not only the most beautiful Dzong in the country, but this Punakha Fortress was the second to be built in Bhutan and served as the Capital Monastery and seat of government until the mid 1950s. All of Bhutan's Kings have been crowned here.

Perched above Paro Dzong is its 'Ta Dzong' which means' Watchtower' was built to observe and protect the undefended Dzong from enemy (Tibet) over Paro Valley at the time Paro was a capital city of Bhutan, and to be renovated to house the National Museum in 1968, remarkably with its unique unusual of its round-shape whitewashed building is said to be in the shape of a conch shell, however just reopen again as the nation's premier museum in 2016 after suffering damage from 2011 earthquake.

Paro Dzong(Dzong means Fortress), or in correct name, Rinpung Dzong, means 'Fortress on a heap of Jewels', Somehow Paro Dzong ranks as a high point of Bhutanese architecture, houses both the monastic body and district government offices, below the Dzong, a traditional wooden covered bridge called 'Nyamai Zam' span the Paro Chhu. So that made the most picturesque picture of Paro Dzong from here the west bank of the river, downstream from this bridge.

One of the largest Buddha Statue in the world, at 169 feet, Thimphu, Bhutan 😍 *The statue houses over one hundred thousand smaller Buddha statues, each of which, like the Great Buddha itself, are made of bronze and gilded in gold. The total cost of the entire project is well over US$100 million.
