Managed to squeeze a date night into the craziness that is always our October. Between Nate traveling and me traveling, and other events where we may be in the same room but don't really have a chance to connect, I feel like I haven't seen him all month!
We had cocktails and the restaurant week menu at Birch's on the lake.
1: Winter Bramble - basically a twist on a gin sour. Herbal and citrusy. As much as I love wine, I'm glad I got this! It was gorgeous.
2: Bay scallops with pork belly, kimchi, and miso. I'm really sad that this isn't part of their regular menu because it was quite possibly the best thing I've ever eaten.
3: Quail, sweet potato pancake, Korean BBQ sauce. Anyone know how to politely consume a small- boned bird like this? I gave up and used my hands. #sorrynotsorry
4: Baked apple, cornmeal cake, and I'm pretty sure they knew I was coming because that is a giant scoop of whipped cream.
And then, being the boring old people we are, we topped the night off with a trip to the grocery store! Honestly we do that on every date night... #datenight #birchsonthelake #restaurantweek #mnfoodie #longlakemn #minneapolisfoodie #minnstagramers #etplowday #yesifitthisintofatlosslowday
