Throwback to yesterday: my last Sunday sunset while living in Philly and it was perfect! Special thanks to my dear friend @tiffnovak who made the most amazing pasta dinner for me right before her entire building lost power. 😂😂

Sunday stroll discoveries. 🤗 @phillymagicgardens @isaiahzagar @visitphilly #bitsytravel

Checked a few things off my Philly bucket list this morning seeing that I’ve been here for almost a year and a half and better do some things before I leave! 1. Running the Schkuoookul River (someone teach me a trick for spelling that because I still have no idea) and 2. Running the Art Museum steps while blasting Eye of the Tiger (Rocky III!) before 7am like a boss. Touristy as fudge and it was so awesome! 7 sweaty miles (half walked, let’s be clear that I’m not a runner yet lol) later and I need breakfast. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #bitsytravel

The countdown is officially on...t-minus 10 days. I need someone to go get @chickpdetroit with me. 😀😀😀 #movinghome #mesoexcited

It doesn’t matter how many times I come to Grand Central Station...every damn time it’s like I’m 5 years old in a candy shop, staring all around me in awe and amazement. This is definitely one of my favorite places in the world. It’s wild to think Michigan Central Station, which was recently purchased by @ford, will actually come to life again. You spend so long looking through it’s abandoned structure that it’s hard to visualize it...and I think that is why I come here literally every single time I’m in New York. It’s always been this “...will Detroit’s train station ever come to life again? Would it look somewhat like this, lit up and full of people?” Both of these beauties were designed by the same architect firms: Warren and Wetmore, Reed and Stem. Both equally stunning, yet just living polar opposite lives at the moment..but times are changing. I’m very excited for what’s already happening in Detroit and what’s to come. Also, where are all these people going? Where are they coming from? What’s their story? So many questions always running through my head... 🤯 #bitsytravel

One thing I will 1000% miss about living in Philly: being able to get to NYC in under 2 hours for less than $10 buckaroos with a backpack full of snacks and the energy to walk for miles. The joy of this place is simply the amount of things you see around every corner. Until next time, New York. Love ya always. 🍎 #bitsytravel

2

Wow. 👏🏻 #bitsytravel

2

If I ever live in New York, I’d want to live in this neighborhood. I can’t get enough of these streets. 😍 #bitsytravel

1

95 degree days call for visiting the neighborhood coffee shops to test out iced coffee and shaded outdoor seating. ☕️ #bitsytravel

2

Finally made it to Philly’s @therailpark and it’s awesome! The park sits atop of three unused miles of the former Reading Railroad lines that used to bring people and freight in and out of Center City, revitalizing them into a beautiful public space for for people to enjoy. This is phase one, compete with a new @obeygiant mural to accompany the city backdrop. Love it! 👌🏻 #bitsytravel

1

What’s one of the craziest things you’ve ever done? This wins for me. Thank you @timehop for reminding me how much I was living the dream this time five years ago. 🤟🏻😍 I met this hilarious gal from Dublin, @prendypants, on a giant orange @straynz bus as we were backpacking our way through New Zealand. 🇳🇿 A beautiful friendship blossomed, along with the entire bus, and we ended up doing the @ajhackettbungynz swing in Queenstown together. Please listen closely to the guy ask us if we want a countdown or a surprise...and then listen to @elliesinstag and @gracesecarey reactions. 😂😂 #nochoice #thiswasterrifying #livemorefearless #backpackingadventures #nevisswing #nevisplayground #straynz #bitsytravel @queenstownnz @purenewzealand @travelnewzealand

3

Dog butts, @lacroixwater, friends, a cooler full of yummy snacks, sandy toes and the Atlantic Ocean to take a dip in when the sun got too hot. A weekend well spent! 🐶👓☀️🌊🍒👯‍♀️ #bitsytravel

Drove 3 hours with @sarastein10 to Cape May, the country’s oldest seaside resort...just for this delicious custard cone. (Carmel & coffee with chocolate sprinkles, yum yum yum)🍦#bitsytravel

It only took me 16 short months in Philly to discover this dark and mysterious Japanese pub that comes with its very own sushi counter in the back of the kitchen. Sushi pub!!!!?? Yes, please. This hidden gem of a spot right is right in my neighborhood...and I can’t take full credit, my brother actually found it. What the heck have I been doing all this time?! @royal_izakaya on 2nd and Catherine is dope. The food is all served small plate style and insanely delicious. The fella who served us, Andrew, was the kindest soul and just made the whole experience superb. Fun fact: If you go out dressed up for a nice dinner at a cozy date spot with your brother, people will in fact think you are dating and it’s funny. 😂😂 GO TO ROYAL IZAKAYA!! 🍣🍚🥟 #bitsytravel

3

I have to point out the thing I love most about the neighborhood I live in: @phillymagicgardens 💜💙💚🧡❤️ Artist @isaiahzagar took it upon himself to begin beautifying the city back in the 60’s in the form of beautiful and colorful mosaic murals on the sides of houses and buildings. They can be found on almost every twist and turn throughout South Philly, which has become a daily scavenger hunt for me. I recently learned that Isaiah, along with many other pubic artists and activists, led protests back when there was a possible highway that would have replaced South Street, which is crazy to think because I walk down that street literally every single day. It connects Philly from East to West, the Delaware River all the way to the Schuylkill River - and is full of some of the most eclectic shops, bars and quirky little homes along it’s entirety. (Highways through neighborhoods of major cities have always been and always will be a terrible idea in my opinion). These guys saved South Street, and this time was later called the South Street Renaissance. Art continued to fill the neighborhoods and it truly is a beautiful discovery every single time I stumble upon a new mural. If you look close enough, there are messages scattered throughout every one. Plus, it’s also so fascinating to get up close and see the detail in every piece. 🌼 #bitsytravel

1

This has to be the best Philly sunset of summa18 to date. This is why I need an accessible rooftop everywhere I live. 🤟🏻

6

Philly has the best random block parties. Nothing like a big dance party in the middle of the street on a random Thursday! All of this unfolded on one single block, it’s like you were visiting a new country with every step. 🎶 #bitsytravel

2

Can anyone name the utterly hilarious show that had quite a few scenes filmed in South Philly’s Italian Market, aka my current neighborhood? I’ll personally send you an air hug if you get it right!! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Hint: #daymanAAhhAhhhAHHH

New Street | Philadelphia, PA 🆕

1

Have you ever been to a magical glow stick park filled with hammocks, beer and endless food trucks? This is Spruce Street Harbor Park, a 15 minute walk from my front door and nestled right along the Delaware River...perfect for a summer night with friends or even to relax during the day if you are lucky enough to find an open hammock! Those things are seriously hard to hunt down. 🌻 #bitsytravel

2

Little bro is back again. Donuts and fried chicken for breakfast at @federaldonuts w/ @shiversrm. Yasss please. Hi mom! 🙏🏻 #michaelsolomonov #federaldonuts #philly #pictureofhealth

4

Finally using my Christmas gift from @patrick_shivers - thank you so much, this picnic blanket is perfect. 😍😍 Nothing beats laying in the park outside of the very first Bank of the United States with a good book, a best friend and lots of water to cure the @u2 concert hangover. 👌🏻#bitsytravel

3

When @tascojes parents fly into Philly for 18 hours because they are Bono groupies...and proceed to sneak you down to the floor from your nosebleed seats and you can basically touch @u2 😭😭 The only thing missing was my dad @subyman2 !!! #u2 #bitsytravel

LONG POST! This was the purple door that started my love affair with Philly. September 2016 I arrived on this corner in Rittenhouse Square & I was overcome with a feeling of “I need to live here.” By February 2017, I lived here. Pretty cool! 🤗
:
I’m feeling weirdly emotional (honestly, when am I not 😂) this week, as my lease here is coming to a close in a few weeks and I am not sure if I am staying or going. I’ve met some of the best people off Craigslist (no joke, all of my roomies) and I even witnessed the @philadelphiaeagles win the Super Bowl. I don’t really care for sports, but omg #FLYEAGLESFLY. Climb those greased poles, you crazy Philadelphians. I am truly in love with this city and people in it.
:
I came to Philly at a pretty rough time of my life. No need to go into too much detail but I just wasn’t very happy. Probably a surprise to everyone except my close friends. On the outside everything looked great…on the inside, not so much. I knew needed a fresh start and a place to truly focus on myself without distraction. Moving to a city where you know not one person is one way to do it! For the first time in my life, I was actually dealing with the stuff I had been burying with my party girl ways. It was very, very hard and I owe so much of my progress to @coach.trish, thank you through and through. 💜
:
I left the job I moved here for in February this year and have been hustling my beee-hind off ever since. Not the easiest choice, but if I can do it - anyone can. It’s been a blast and I am far happier right now making so much less than I was while I figure out my next move.
:
Leaving Detroit and all my friends and family made me realize how much I love that city/being around my people. I’ve been applying for jobs here, NYC and Detroit. Where Bitsy shall land, nobody knows! I know the right thing will happen, and it’s a result of all the hard ass work I’ve been putting into myself and my future these past few months.
:
I wake up every morning so thankful I found my way to this city because this place truly helped me find myself when I needed it most. #Philly, I love you. Thank you. ❤️ I’m excited for what’s to come. #bitsytravel

22

Anyone else anxiously await this time of day? Doesn’t matter where I am - dusk wins at everything. Anytime, anywhere. Here I am waiting for it at 10am on a rainy morning in Philly. 🌧️ New York, you are OK too. #bitsytravel

0

I’d be a very happy gal if this was my personal outdoor space. Quite the sassy rooftop. 👄 #bitsytravel

2

Throwback to quite possibly one of the most breathtaking spots for a wedding that I’ve ever seen. Look at that view! 😍😍 #moeslastdansk #mulcahynomaura #ilovenewyork

3

Spotted in Northern Liberties. 🤓#bitsytravel

1

I love stumbling upon tiny places that you have to go down below street level to enter. My first time to St. Marks street in the East Village did not disappoint. Delicious dumplings from Dumpling Man and top notch people watching views from a stoop a few steps down. 👌🏻#bitsytravel

3

Cloudy views upon arrival in Manhattan yesterday. ☁️☁️☁️ #bitsytravel

I purposely go out of my way when navigating my way around Philly to go by this mural. 💃🏻#bitsytravel

2

🌳What’s your favorite park near where you live? Please post it below! Rittenhouse Square (which keeps autocorrecting to Rotten House💩) is one of my favorites here in Philly. Possibly because it’s the first one I discovered when I got here, I’m not sure. I could sit on a bench and people watch all day long here because that’s probably one of my favorite activities of all time. This park is one of the five original squares planned for the city by William Penn, as he wanted one in each quadrant of the city and this one residing in the center (Center City). It was originally named Southeast Square, and back in the day it was used for cattle to graze upon and as a burial ground...with the bodies still buried there to this day. It’s transformed into a public urban gathering spot in what I would say is one of the most fancy-schmancy neighborhoods in the city. I’d suggest to put this on your list of places to go. What’s your favorite park here...or anywhere?? I want to lay and people watch in all the good parks of the world so suggestions welcome! 🤓 #bitsytravel

2

My favorite time of year is when all the cafes and restaurants start to keep their doors and windows open all day to let the summer breezes in. 🌞 #bitsytravel

1

Don’t forget to look up. 👀

1

I washed up like this...flawless with a matcha latte. 👏🏻🍵🧜🏻‍♀️ #bitsytravel

5

Night walks around Philly sometimes take you to the Center of the City. 🥨 #bitsytravel

1

Another rainy day in Philly but the market is always buzzing. This is the oldest open air market in the country and there is never a shortage of food on this street, especially cheese. No lazy Sunday’s here.🥠 #bitsytravel

1

This is the equivalent of the great @americanconeyisland / @lafayetteconeyisland battle in Detroit...but here in Philly it’s cheesesteaks instead of coneys. Are you team Pat or Geno?! Better yet, list your fav cheesesteak spot below if it’s not one of these two! I need to know where the goods are. 🍽️ #bitsytravel

5

So today I went outside to the market on my street to gather a few fruits and veggies for the week ahead. 🍎🥑🥦🥕 I had forgotten that there is the huge 🇮🇹 9th Street Italian Market Festival they throw every year going on, which then made sense why all the streets around me were shut down! So I decided to take a gander down 9th street for fun to see what this was about. Hands down, Philly is the best city for festivals. As I was passing all of the @dibrunobros cheese, huge pina colada stations (seriously, one took up the entire inside of a pineapple!), cigar shops, fresh pasta, sizzling taco trucks, greased up poles for the pole climbing contests 😂,everyone laughing with a drink of some sort in hand - I noticed a door into a small bar wide open with some music playing from inside. To be totally honest, I saw the Christmas lights and I’m just a sucker for those at any time of year so I popped inside for some water and I came upon this groovy little band! I’m pretty sure they were about 12-13 and they had so much spunk and stage presence that I stayed for the entire set. These guys were tiny little rockers. I think the audience consisted mostly of their parents, but it’s crazy to think that I may have just seen a future rock band for free, way before their time. Everybody starts somewhere. What a fun surprise for this lovely Saturday! These kids really inspired me and now I’m ready to rock this day. 🤘🏻🎶😍 #bitsytravel

1

I wonder what they are talking about? I’m guessing it’s a lovers quarrel. 🐦🌺 #bitsytravel

2

30 for me so far has been life changing in so many stinkin’ ways. I’m loving all the challenges, obstacles, adventure and insane hustle that have come with this year. I’d call it beautiful chaos? I’m learning so much about myself with each day, surprised it took me this long but I’m trusting the timeline of my life. I have this gut feeling it’s going to be an amazing year, even though I couldn’t tell you why right now. But most of all, I’m loving this @magnoliabakerynyc bday cake that @moemo39 got me as a belated celebration!!!! Life is short, so be nice to yourself, always be kind to others and eat the dang cake. 🎂

15

One more #newyork post before I go...but I have a strange feeling I won’t be gone for long. 🍎 #bitsytravel

I had to make a quick trip from Philly to NYC on a whim last night, so thankfully I snagged a $5 bus ticket (I ❤️you, @megabus) and I made it here just as the crazy storm hit the East Coast. The wind was so intense that it picked up all the dirt and trash on the street and swirled it around, landing in my eyes and mouth - no joke, I had so much crap go into my eyes that I had to stop in middle of street and my gum actually turned crunchy from who knows what flew into it. 😂 I ran into the subway drenched from the sudden downpour of rain (sadly wearing a white tshirt, poor choice) that followed the dirt storm and squished onto the Uptown 1 train that was so full, I was literally spooning a young man and middle aged woman. We laughed at how packed it was and embraced the fact that yes, this was sweaty and claustrophobic & somewhat uncomfortable, but hey! We were out of the storm and on our way. As I emerged back up into Manhattan to make my way to my friends house for the night, it was still pouring but my heart was smiling from that interaction with complete strangers who all made the best of a pretty chaotic situation. Once the rain stopped later that evening, @moemo39 and I went for a walk outside and this beautiful sight greeted us. Absolutely zero filters on this photo. The insanely gorgeous calm after the wild storm. There is something about this place that I can’t quite understand, but holy guacamole - I freaking love you, New York. ❤️❤️ #bitsytravel

11

I missed you, Detroit! ❤️ #bitsytravel

Hey there! 👋🏻

1

If I think back to a single moment when I felt both utterly terrified yet insanely alive/nauseous at the exact same time...it was this. Free-falling for 450 feet while dangling to a line suspended somewhere between two mountains in the Southern Alps in the magical South Island of New Zealand.
:
Have you ever had that freaky dream when you are falling but you wake up before you hit the ground? This was pretty similar to that, but you fall until you can’t go any father until you are just hanging in the air...and then you have to be dragged back up whilst dangling by your feet, inch by inch. Technically you are supposed to flip yourself upright after you jump, but I’m pretty sure I blacked out during the fall and completely forgot what I had been instructed to do. 😂
:
I didn’t think I’d be able to jump because I accidentally looked down before I was about to leap, which I wouldn’t advise to people who are afraid of heights. Seriously...don’t do it! Then I hear the countdown of 3, 2, 1...and I just went for it. The feeling of falling like that and trusting your harness wont snap in half is freaking surreal.
:
That’s what life is all about. I learn the most about myself through travel, new experiences and finding out what makes me feel the most excited about life. Ever since this moment, I reflect back on it constantly, especially when I’m confronted with a situation that scares me. This somewhat fuzzy iPhone 4 photo is my constant source of “you got this”. Meeting new people, confronting my insecurities, pushing my creative boundaries, pretty much anything in life. I remind myself that if I can jump into the sky like that, I can do anything. Here’s to many, many more of those moments! 👏🏻👏🏻@whiteclaw #MyBestLifeContest #bitsytravel

You know it’s been a long winter when you had almost forgotten how beautiful these streets become when the trees start to come back to life! 😍🌿🍃

🚨This is a Philly tip you will want to follow step by step if you ever come to this lovely city. Please take my word and do NOT stray from what I’m about to tell you!!! If/when in South Philly, march your little caboose on over to 7th and Christian where you shall find the glorious John’s Water Ice. Bring at least $4 cash with you (cash only establishment folks!) and order a gelati with this exact mouth watering combo: raspberry chocolate chip ice cream and lemon water ice. You can say wuuuuder if you wanna sound like a true Philadelphian. 😂 Then proceed to experience one of the most satisfying summer treats of your entire life. You’re so welcome in advance!!!! 👏🏻🍧👏🏻 @johnswaterice #bitsytravel

I always think it’s funny how colorful doors literally make me so happy. 😊 #bitsytravel

1

The things you find on a random walk around the city. The Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival runs all until June 30th in Franklin Square (named after Benny Franks himself!) and these lantern installations light up at night! Stay tuned for the night time glow in the dark post. You can enter the park during the day for free, clearly why I’m here right now. Evening tix cost some $$ but I think this would be worth it! ⛩️✨🐲 #bitsytravel

3

Old City, I’ll always have a crush on you. 😍 Philly weather has been so amazing the past few days, upper 80s and everyone has emerged from their homes! You know summer is coming when the outdoor seating starts to pop up. 👏🏻 #bitsytravel

1

Feels like summer today! 🐦#bitsytravel

0

I already had about 18 tastings at this point (and it was only 11am), hence the shakey filming. 😂 @peninsulacellars is an old school house converted into a winery that serves not only delicious wine with names like “Homework” and “Summer Vacation”, but also animal crackers in giant bowls on each corner of the bar. I repeat, animal crackers. I had seriously forgotten how good these delicious creature shaped snacks are. This is 💯percent my kind of establishment! 🍷😊#bitsytravel

One day back and Philly and she did NOT disappoint! 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸#bitsytravel

Happy belated Earth Day from one of my favorite places on. 🌍 #bitsytravel

1

My new birthday kicks that I’m slightly in love with and all my bags I’ve been toting around Ireland for almost all of April! It’s crazy to think I fly back to Philly on Wednesday...where has the time gone? Unfortunately I’ve caught a not so fun bug that I’m praying works itself way out my system by my flight - send some good vibes my way! ☘️ #bitsytravel

2

Dublin turns into something else when it’s sunny! The Grand Canal was flooded with young and old alike, all out enjoying the beautiful weather and drinking in the warmth. I was told that this is what happens when the sun comes out here, but had never witnessed it before! ☀️#bitsytravel

2

Anyone else ever look at the clouds on a really beautiful day and think, “Damn, I miss my @delias pajamas.” Just curious! ⛅️ #bitsytravel

1

Summer in Dublin has arrived (even if only for a few days!). I feel so grateful to have experienced the best weather possible while I’m here. So much sunshine and everyone is out enjoying it. ☀️☀️Have you been to Dublin? Please tell me your some of your favorite spots for a good cup of coffee. I feel as though I’m a new woman, looking for a good cup of joe over a pint. 😂😂 #thisis30 #whoami #bitsytravel #lovindublin

I’ve had this dream for about a decade that one day I will work for @linkedin - so today for fun, I walked to the Dublin HQ and envisioned that the dream was a reality. I legit got up, made breakfast and got ready like I was headed to the office! I know this may sound silly to some people, but I really do think that if you envision yourself already where you want to be - you are well on your way to creating the life you want. I had to literally stop myself from walking though the swivel doors to prevent myself from looking like a maniac, but I was so close I could have connected to the #linkedin guest WiFi! What a surreal few moments to be in the present moment staring into the front doors of a company I’ve just dreamed about. Regardless of where I end up, this company has connected me with so many wonderful individuals around the world that I can’t even begin to count. It’s constantly inspiring me to chase after what I want and reach out to those who I look up to. Who knows what the future holds, but at least I stepped on the front porch of LinkedIn Dublin!!! ...and then I got honeycomb ice cream because it was hot as heck and I was sweating from all of the adrenaline and excitement from this tiny adventure. ‘Twas a grand day.☘️😍 #bitsytravel #linkedindublin #linkedinlife #dreambig

I can’t get enough of exploring this place. There is something unexpected around every corner. 👌🏻#bitsytravel #streetart #lovindublin

3

What an absolutely stunning day to wander around Dublin. I’m actually schh-weating, it’s that hot out. St. Stephen’s Green is packed with everyone taking their lunch breaks picnic style and out getting a good dose of Vitamin D.☀️☀️ This park reminds me of Philly’s @rittenhousesquare , NYC’s @centralparknyc and Detroit’s @belleislestatepark all rolled into one! ☘️#bitsytravel #lovindublin

2

I could never be a decent food blogger because the meal is always half eaten by the time I remember to get the shot. 📸😂 Matcha latte and blueberry muffin with a side of @tame__impala playing softly in the background at @shoelanecoffee = happy days. 👌🏻#bitsytravel

1

My first time in Athlone and holy guacomole, what a charming and colorful little town!!! This place is located along the River Shannon and is quite literally in the center of Ireland...and what you right here you have the oldest pub on this tiny green isle! You also have the always camera ready @elliesinstag and camera shy Kris, my little tour guides showing me their stomping grounds. What a great day with lots of sunshine. ☀️ #bitsytravel #discoverireland
