The highlight of my week was too fantastic not to share:
Logan started kung fu in our Lil ninja's program when he was only 4 years old. As the littlest guy over the years he often struggled to keep up with larger kids and would often get frustrated (lots of tears sometimes). 4 years later, as a junior black belt we refer to him as Mr. Fenton . This week he led his own group (of teens and adults). This guy, who at one time we could barely hear if we were listening, led testing review with volume, clarity, and precision without any hesitation, like it wasn't even a thing.
On the left side of the room is Nico. About 2 years ago during testing we could barely get him on the floor; he would have his head down, shoulders slumped forward and barely move his hands he was so unsure of himself. Today, as a black sash we refer to him as Mr. Hanson, and at only 14 years old he led a class of 20 people confidently like he's been doing it for a decade, addressing a full group of people with clarity and his incredible wit; where most teens can't make eye contact, he has everyone fooled into thinking he's in his late 20's.
Standing where I was when I took this photo was the perfect spot to stand in awe of what these two gentlemen have actualized for themselves through discipline, commitment, and perseverance. I would have loved to watch the whole class, but strangely enough I had to step off the floor because I had something in my eye ;-) #kungfulife #blackbeltgoals #blacksash #kungfufamily #leadership
