Our last meal in Barcelona was at this hidden gem called Green Bamboo. It’s a small place that holds about 15 people. They serve Spanish Tapas with a strong Asian influence. Sorry, I haven’t downloaded pictures of the food or drinks yet, but trust me when I say that it was absolutely epic.
All drinks are hand-made: no pre-mixed junk. I had the best Bloody Mary ever. The bartender, Emiliano Espinola (guy on the right), is an old-fashioned, real-deal bartender. Watching him make our drinks was pretty awesome. Again, everything done from scratch. Did I mention that he made me the best Bloody Mary ever?!
As for the food, that’s a whole ‘nother story. “Slow food” as it’s called in Barcelona (and Italy, for that matter) is exactly that, slow food. And not because of bad service, but for a couple reasons: one, because it’s made from scratch with fresh ingredients, and two, because slow food allows for friends and family at the table to enjoy each others’ company. Seriously. 3-hour meals are not uncommon. They don’t want you to rush.
Chef Riccardo Maretta (guy on the left) runs the kitchen all by himself. And it’s not really a “kitchen” either; it’s a workspace that’s about 4’x4’ at one end of the bar/counter. And watching him cook is a treat in itself. They way he whips up the tastiest Tapas with minimal ingredients is complete sorcery. We ate their versions of bao, ceviche, and curry, as well as some traditional Spanish meats and cheeses. So. Frickin’. Delicious.
If you ever go to Barcelona, you need to visit this place. You will NOT be disappointed. #greenbamboo #barcelona #spain #tapas #fresh #handmade #bloodymary #bloodygoodbloodys #bloodymaryaddicts #magictomato #bloodymaryaddicts #kingbloodymary #thedrunkentomato
