💫My favorite silicone-free primers:
@Biossance - 100% Squalane
The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
@RenSkincareUS - Perfect Canvas Skin Finishing Serum
@MilkMakeup - Blur Stick
▫️Biossance - 100% Squalane
Any oil will work for this, but this is the kind of “primer” I use for oil based foundations - like @fleshbeauty Thickstick or @kevynaucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer. It gives my face a slip so that the foundation is easy to spread, and keeps the drying ingredients from over-drying my skin out throughout the day.
▫️The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
This is what I use when I’m wearing a water based foundation, like @lauramercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation. It does have some fatty acids and fatty alcohols, but no oils. I’ve tried quite a few water based moisturizers as a primer for water based foundations and this one is *the* ideal.
▫️REN Skincare - Perfect Canvas Skin Finishing Serum
This primer was really frustrating to figure out how to use. It doesn’t get along well with my water based foundations and I don’t think I have tried it with an oil based one yet. I do love it with the @bareminerals BareSkin Brightening Serum Foundation which is interesting because it is water, oil, and silicone free and on it’s own can have some wear time issues.
▫️MILK Makeup - Blur Stick
I mostly use this as a topper for SPF to cut down on the shine and give the effect of a filter on my skin on the days that I don’t wear makeup. If I do use it as primer, I like it for cream and stick foundations. The trick is so apply a teeny tiny amount! Less is definitely more. I’ve owned this for at least a year and a half and wear it regularly, but I’m only about halfway through the stick.
What’s the best primer you have ever used? 💬 It’s a little easier to pair a silicone free primer with a silicone free foundation than ones that contain silicones, so I’ll be doing a post soon on how to navigate that in order to maximize the wear time of your foundation and prevent pilling or patchiness.
