09 Aug 2019: Final send off for the 535i. This has been a long time coming. The car from the beginning was a bit of a risk, and unfortunately, during the build process for this car, what initially appeared to be bad bushings turned out to be what is likely a bent frame, likely caused by a curb shunt sometime in the car’s history.
Well, lesson learned. Either way, with all the race parts on the 540i and most of the interior and sunroof pulled, I finally junked the car. A number of the parts pulled from the 535i will be used in the 540i build.
The process of loading the carcass of the car, which had no wheels or front suspension at this point, onto the flatbed was quite a spectacle, one that claimed two jack stands as casualties.
Thank you to @because_sebass once again for coming to the rescue in a very hectic time and pulling the entire interior and a number of other parts off this car, and for helping to pull the glass sunroof at the end of the long night we got the 540i running.
Now that this car is gone, it’s full speed ahead for the 540i build—and for getting the RS back to track-readiness again.
