Thought it might be an idea to introduce myself to any new followers, or even old followers who don’t know me personally. .
As my username suggests, I’m an Artist, but also a Science nerd Biology and Art were my two favourite subjects in high school, and despite popular belief, they actually have a lot in common. Both are very creative subjects, where you delve into a topic and try to explore it from every angle to solve a problem or create something unique (eg. painting/cutting edge technology/scientific experiment). .
It was this dual love that led me to complete a Bachelor of Science and Education at UQ and later a Diploma of Visual Arts at Southbank Institute of Technology. (After teaching in Japan for 9 months) My Diploma really taught me to experiment and led to me creating pieces which combine anatomical cross sections with portraiture. I am still experimenting with and refining this concept to this day, and itching to start in another new piece. .
Late last year I decided to create some handmade jewellery as Christmas gifts and loved the experience so much I have continued on this journey. .
I am now selling some of my handmade pieces at @ideology in Banyo, Etsy and a few other stockists. I also have some exciting projects coming up including a collaborative photo shoot on July which I’m so thrilled to experience!
Oh, I also have a little boy called Quinn who will be 2 in September, and whom is also the main reason I can pursue my handmade business at the moment. Thanks for your 2 hr daily nap my little monkey! .
Anyway, that’s my story in a nutshell! Hope it wasn’t too long Thanks for following and supporting me in my creative ventures! I’d love to hear your stories too!
