💖 She/her- gender pronoun
💖 The gender pronoun “She” is used for people who identify as female as their gender identity. A cisgender or cis female refers to someone who identifies with their sex at birth. Gender identity is our internal sense of being male, female, both or none of them
💖 Transgender - refers to people whose gender identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth
💖 Drag Queens - are usually “male” or gender fluid, gender nonconforming perform the “female” gender. This is a form of expression and is considered art in the LGBTQ community and its allies

@pinkladoo project - is inspiring change within South Asia communities to celebrate and welcome the birth of the girl child. Typically, when a girl is born within these cultures, sweets won’t be distributed and many are saddened by the news. Pink Ladoo is a symbol of protest against these South Asian gender-biased customs
💖 Social constructions of gender roles for women usually privilege a two-dimensional identity. The home and the husband. The home includes taking care of the kids, and the kitchen. The husband is the most prized possession of a woman. Therefore, marriage becomes the most important event that defines a South Asian woman’s worth, value in society .
💖 SHADEISM- South Asian cultures privilege the lighter complexion over the darker complexion which is usually reserved for women (some men as well). Universal standards of beauty as well as SA communities have a long history of promoting fairness creams. 💖 Even with all this, we have so many great initiatives challenging these patriarchal traditions and structures.
