As tough as it was, grad school was fun.
One of my favorite assignments was to evaluate a performance issue in a company, athlete, or organization and provide my interventions as a performance consultant.
I decided to evaluate the one and only Eldrick "Tiger" Woods.
For those who aren't familiar with all that Tiger went through, I'll give you a quick synopsis: - Had affairs with nearly 20 women
- Began abusing prescription medications
- Struggled mightily on the golf course, going through a horrible losing streak, and even missing cuts in tournaments
So, without boring you with psychology talk, I'm going to boil down the essentials to Tiger's case.
I spent hours examining interviews with Tiger, his multiple coaches, and people around him.
What I learned about Tiger grew my level of respect for him, because, after all - what he was doing to his wife and kids was pretty scummy to say the least.
Tiger had a serious case of burnout.
His training regimen is unlike any that I've seen. Even Michael Phelps didn't train as hard or long as Tiger Woods did... And that's saying a lot.
You see, burnout will send you in a tailspin. It'll jeopardize your marriage, your job, relationships, finances, you name it.
It almost ended Tiger's career.
Rest and recovery are essential to peak performance. If you don't give your mind and body time to recover, there's no way that you can sustain peak performance.
I mention this because many of my clients are on the verge of burnout when they reach out to me. They've waited too long. Like a car that's had its engine revved at it's max for too long, it just burns out.
We don't want you to do that.
So, if you're a business owner, someone who is a high performer (or wants to be), schedule a complimentary 30 minute consultation with me so we can chat. (See the link in my profile)
