DAILY SUCCESS TIPS:
As a startup entrepreneur, you must have found that TIME is something that you don’t seem to have enough of! If you were an employee and recently transferred to becoming your own boss, you suddenly realized that while your work as an employee had a beginning and an end; as an entrepreneur, your work appears to have no end.
We have all been there before, and have to learn the principles of time management to navigate this world of being your own boss. So, here are a few time management concepts you can apply to get things done and still have time to have fun (after all having time for yourself must be one of the reasons why you decided to be your own boss).
1. Have a work plan
At a minimum, plan your work one week ahead. This will enable you to schedule your most productive days/time for the most important activities.
2. Make a to-do-list
A to-do list can help you time-box your activities to make sure that you are not wasting time on only one activity. It will also be a good tool for daily performance measurement.
3. Prioritize according to urgency & importance
Learn not to confuse urgent task for important tasks. Determine how each task will contribute to your bottom-line before embarking on it.
4. Learn new skills to improve efficiency and productivity
This is one of the most-often neglected time management hack! The better you get at a job, the faster you will finish it and move on to something else.
This one is pretty obvious. The hard part is knowing what to delegate and being will to let go.
6. Use time-management and scheduling tools
Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do, Trello, are examples of free tools.
7. Schedule time for interruptions – be realistic!
Yeah, there will always be interruptions. Be ready!
On Monday morning, I had all my work planned, to-do list on hand, ready to crush my activities! This guy worked into my work environment, we exchanged greetings and before you know it, we got talking. Turns out he has lots of information and hands-on experience in a business opportunity I am exploring. Viola! Two hours later, I was still talking to him.
There will be interruptions, be ready!
