He said, “I’m never building another deck.” That was last year. Summer of 2018. We have deck history.
Deck 1: The first deck J built was engineered to hold a helicopter. Over-engineering is a thing for us! It featured built-in seating for hosting BBQs and long nights in the backyard with good friends.
Deck 2: A few months after moving back to Michigan in 2017, winter had arrived. We found ourselves with the perfect spot to reconfigure a shed into a sauna and deck on the property at our home. Plans began and the second deck came to life last summer. This time, a trex solution modeled after more than a few trips down the Pinterest rabbit hole. (Yeah, you know what I’m talking about) 😂
Deck 3: That was before we found True North. When we bought the property, there were two decks. An upper deck facing the driveway and a lower deck that wrapped completely around the exterior of the cabin. The problem? All of the wood was rotting. When we first saw the cabin, the “CAUTION: 🚧 do not walk on deck, unsafe!” signs were stapled into the exterior.
With many helpful hands(🙏🏻, thank you all—you know who you are), we rebuilt the deck this spring.
What’s on deck? The next two (!!) decks are being planned for fall/spring. One for the fire pit and the second for the sauna. So the deck building will continue (send a glass of something strong to J 🥃)! Swipe for the before and some deck throwbacks.
