Even though we’re both laughing in almost every picture on here, there are some serious things that weigh on us and feel important to talk about.
We know that grilling and pool floats and dressing in red, white, and blue is fun, but we felt a little hesitant to celebrate today. We’re not here to lecture or shame anyone, but while the nation is celebrating a holiday dedicated to the immigrants who sailed here seeking new lives and freedoms they were not being allowed in their home countries, let’s also think of the current generations of those fleeing unstable homes.
We know it feels overwhelming and a problem too big to face, but there are simple things you can do make a difference. .
• Go to callmycongress.com to find your local representatives and let them know how you feel.
• Donate to organizations dedicated to immigrant rights (ACLU, Families for Freedom, and the ILRC are just a few)
• VOTE. Seriously, do it. .
• Be kind. Have a welcoming heart, stand up for those who need defense, and represent the version of America that you want to see.
Happy 4th of July, babes.
