To those who brought me to where I am:
On the last night, my campers cried about going home. They have it rough at home, much more than what a child at 12 years old should have to handle.
I held them in my arms. Then words came trembling out of my tear-washed face.
These words of encouragement that echoed through my brain, in my mind, my heart, and through my lips.
They came from years and years of love.
Love from my best friends in moments I felt weak, and they held my hand and shoulders because I couldn’t stop shaking.
Love from my lover in nights that he held me and sweet talked me to sleep because of the crack in my heart—the one that has ran so deep that it was hard to breath.
Love from my mother and my father through the phone in what seemed like endless hours of homesickness and loneliness.
They say that love is all around us
It is within us,
A way of being,
An energy that is passed on.
I felt it again,
Echoing through my bones.
Your love has given me strength, it has made me stronger so that I could help others.
Let us all have some love for one another,
so that we can help each other become strongholds for the world.
We can never do these things alone—and we were never supposed to.
We should always, always lean on each other.
