Listen to your body, make that mind, body and spirit connection: So after a naughty arm workout yesterday, I had a little rest whilst I took a couple 1-1 PT clients. I then had a bit of time before starting evening classes, so as I was feeling good I decided to hit a few squats yesterday in my second workout of the day. Didn't go too heavy, only up to 120kg from a gradual increase from body weight, but kept the reps high at 20 for 3 sets on eat increase. Working on get the bar higher on the traps to take pressure off old injuries in the shoulder felt pretty good. More control in the core and less pressure on the lower back meant I got deeper in the squats. Also going less of a powerlifting wide foot placement stance meant I felt more of a benefit in the quads. Needless to say the pump has gone down quite a bit now but the legs are still pumped as hell as you can see and aching, arms are tired and traps are tensed. Attempting deadlifts today was a no go so I tried some calisthenics... still couldn't do much so then tried a little ab workout... still struggled so decided a little light cardio on the spin bike, nothing to intense. Just to ease the muscles and get the blood circulating with some fresh oxygen then plenty of deep stretches is me done for today. It's important to listen to your body and know when to take a day off. My mind was wanting so bad to train today but my body felt deflated. There's no harm in putting your hands up and admitting defeat as long as you know in your heart of hearts deserve that rest.
