You guys! This weather! I don't know if the Utah mountains could've been any prettier this year. 😍 Whether you're getting out to run the trails or throwing around weights at the gym, I wanted to tell you about why a WARM-UP should be an essential part of your routine.
A thorough warm-up raises the body's core temperature, increases blood flow to the heart and muscles, your joints are better lubricated, and you are rehearsing movements that are soon going to come so your body will adapt more effectively and with more power (making for a better workout!). Our likelihood of injury decreases as we prepare our body for our workout.
I always have my clients warm up the muscle group they're about to use when we are lifting heavier weights, even for just 5 minutes. If you're going out for a run, get those legs moving in a brisk walk first. If you're moving into leg day at the gym, do some lunges, the treadmill, or stair climber... anything to get those legs in action before your upcoming workout, etc! For my pregnant body lately, the elliptical or a quick HIIT circuit has been a go-to! What is your favorite way to warm up and get the blood pumping!?👇🏻
