Mercedes-Benz 300SL W198 Gullwing (1955) Custom Coupe
Build by Slang 500
The Slang 500 300SL Gullwing received the Sema ‘Best of Show’ award from DUB/ Amsoil for their incredible build. The brainchild of John Sarkisyan, whose vision and hard work helped came up this masterpiece.
John had the good fortune to be offered an original Gullwing body made from a mold of a version that had only 12,000 miles on it. His next step was to decide on a chassis and found out that the Mercedes R171 SLK had the same wheelbase dimentions as the original Gullwing. They decided to use an AMG model, which was an SLK32 AMG as their base car.
With its more modern chassis, suspension, etc they decided to go with the best of the best so the team went with Brembo brakes and HRE wheels wrapped inside Toyo tires.
The SLK32 was dismantled until they were able to fit the gullwing body over the SLK frame.
A new interior was custom built by Alan Iwamoto AKA Sm0kDogg of Brea, CA.
