listened to // republica—republica (promotional): back in the mid 90’s, long before i got married and had a baby daughter, i used to lived in a bachelor pad with a roommate. my college buddy and best friend was my roommate (sadly, he is no longer with us). we used to hangout with each other all the time and were two peas in a pod. one of things we did all the time were playing network video games. some games we played were “doom”, “quake (i, ii, iii: arena, team arena)”, “marathon (i, ii and infinity)”, “unreal / unreal tournament” and “carmageddon”, to name a few. especially, when we played “carmageddon”, we played republica’s album as a soundtrack / background music while playing the video games. i think i got the CD at “second hand tunes” on clark street. i came across this perusing through the used CDs. the design looked pretty cool so i took a chance. when i got home and played the CD together with my best friend, we loved it. we thought a large part of the music sounded or was inspired by 80’s electronic music. the songs “ready to go” and “bloke” were favorite of ours when we were virtually duking it out. technology has come a long way since then. i miss those days. my favorites on here: “ready to go (both u.s. and u.k. versions)”, “bloke”, “drop dead gorgeous”, and “holly”. if your into the early garbage albums, this might be right up your alley.
