For our last project the objective was to create a composition that attracts and guides the viewers attention, by transforming ordinary objects into a new experience. We had to create a convincing illusion of form, space, and light using charcoal. My intention was to remind the audience that there are many different ways to experience the most simple of concepts, by designing the composition from a diagonal perspective. I found the lenses of the glasses most interesting, as well as the glow from the candle; both connected by both being placed on the book.
This year was the first time I have ever taken a drawing class like this. I'm definitely not the most skilled in the class but I'm proud of myself for taking on each challenge. Drawing with charcoal was certainly an experience...but I'm happy to be done with my first year of art college! I love that I've gained more experience in observation, remembering just how intricate and well designed everything around us truly is.
