'People need nature to thrive' For more than 30 years, Conservation International (@conservationorg) has been protecting nature through science, policy, and partnerships with countries, communities and companies. CI employs nearly 1,000 people and works with over 2,000 partners in 30 countries. Over the years, the organization has helped support 1,200 protected areas and interventions across 77 countries, protecting more than 601 million hectares of land, marine, and coastal areas. I'll save you the Google search, that's about 1.5 billion acres. Yup. Billion.
But protection is only the first step of CI's transformative approach to conservation, focusing next on fostering effective governance in protected areas. CI works with governments to ensure that they have the knowledge and tools to enact policies that are sustainable and beneficial to the environment. Finally, they aim to promote sustainable production, working with companies — including those with a big impact in sectors like mining, energy and agriculture — to help make sure that industry doesn’t undercut nature’s ability to support us.
DM us to suggest charities, raise money for your org, or tell us if we could be doing something better. We’ll try not to take it personally.
