A great wine from one of the biodynamic greats. Nicolas Joly barrel ferments this Clos Sacrés Chenin Blanc from Savennières, France. In Europe this wine is labeled ‘Les Vieux Clos’. It is his entry level Savennières sourced from several plots on quartz, schist and sand soils. These wines are generally hit and miss for me after some age, but the 2004 was in a great spot. It was bright, acidic and full of tropical fruits with plenty of the expected minerality. A natural wine made well to last.
