Who Needs Coffee For A Pick Me Up If You Have These Dumplings!
I like to think I’m normal, at times, like everyone else. We all have our favorites. Books, colors, cars, stationary, restaurants, drinks food. So many favorites!
I’m specifically referring to restaurant favorites. You know the types of people who are so crazy for what they love (restaurants!) they’ll literally stand on the road selling it to everyone they know? I’m that person!
The food is lamb dumplings, the place is called Xian Famous Foods. Chinese food (like Indian food) is highly misconstrued. Highly regional, most of us (me included) have barely tasted a snippet of what the culture offers our senses.
These dumplings are stuffed with fatty lamb, wrapped in a thick pouch of dough, thrown in ferociously boiling water, and then dunked into a fat layer of salty, chili, cumin oil.
My first bite was soupy (thank you fat) and the next bit was even better. I could pour a little chili oil into my dumpling, like a vessel of deliciousness!
If you’re as adventurous as I am, you ask for “extra spicy”, wrap your dumpling in the oil and stuff the entire pouch in your mouth.
That’s when you’ve experienced it all!
It was sheer bliss, a wow moment, a pick me up, a wake up call to look and taste what life has to offer.
Moments of pleasure!
