Done with work, so now it’s time for a long weekend! Picked up a nice stout and a delicious set up from In and Out, since it’s cheat day, and I’m gonna sit back and relax with the Pinar del Rio Reserva Limitada Double Magnum!
Appearance and Construction: Great looking stick! Nice dark, oily, and a bit toothy. There were a couple big veins. The construction was great though, and there were no hard or soft spots.
Flavor: This was a pretty good smoke! The cigar opened with creamy notes of some cocoa, coffee, earth, and a neat mix of cinnamon and raisin in the retrohale. Unfortunately, this stick did not change at all as the smoke carried on. With the use of 8 different types of tobacco leaves, I was expecting greater change and complexity to it, so it was pretty disappointing.
Smoking Characteristics: This was probably the smokiest cigar I’ve ever had. It had billows of smoke pouring out of it! The draw was excellent as well. The burn was not incredible, and the ash held on decent.
Overall Experience: I would say I enjoyed this smoke! The flavor was right in my wheelhouse, just a bit more mild than I’d typically like, and no change which can get boring especially with a cigar of this size. On the upside, it paired great with the imperial stout that I was drinking! I don’t know if I’d get another.
