Probably one of the most underrated films of the year, in my opinion. Film in 2018 has been kind of underwhelming for me, but this film was pretty great!
Usually, I find these kinds of films boring- the whole “strangers get together and make cliche film plot” is just so overplayed these days, and it’s nice to see a film that does it RIGHT.
In terms of plot: it reminded me a lot of the film Circle (2015), (it’s a Netflix original) where these strangers with unknown motives and or secrets get together and make a thriller. I was kind of iffy about this film considering it had an all star cast- as opposed to Circle which had a cast of unknowns. But it’s nice to see a film like Oceans 8, where the cast just flowed so well and had good chemistry.
I also thought this film was a good redemption for Drew Goddard: I don’t know about you, but The Martian was extremely overrated in my opinion. He shows great directional skills and a fantastic screenplay. A great cast performs in harmony, and it’s not like they’re reading off of a cheap script. Cinematography and editing is also excellent, not Oscar worthy, but it needs some appreciation (I personally think Seamus McGarvey needs some Oscars love these days). My only gripe would be- the pacing. It just seemed to drag on and on and on. At one point it’s just like, “can it just end already? I have plans.” Overall, considering I don’t really like “over the course of a night” movies, this was quite good! Ignore that low Rotten Tomatoes scores I’ve learned to take them with a grain of salt. And for once, I actually disagree with a Metacritic score: it doesn’t deserve a high grade but it deserves more than a mere 60%. And to believe it was a box office bomb...deserved more advertising, way more love than most of these “great 2018 films” got. (I’m looking at you, A Quiet Place.) MY RATING: 8/10

Actors Eva Green and Michael Pitt as romantically-entangled film lovers on a movie theater set for director Bernardo Bertolucci’s drama “The Dreamers” (2003).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Initially adapted by author Gilbert Adair from his own novel “The Holy Innocents,” the film follows the story of an American university student who finds himself in the middle of both the 1968 Paris student riots and an erotic triangle with a peculiar brother and sister. Bertolucci made significant changes to the narrative, peppering it with clips from films he appreciates, as well as dropping homosexual content that included scenes of the two male leads having sex. He would later say defend the alterations, stressing that the film was “faithful to the spirit of the book but not the letter.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Of her part, Green has said that her agent and her parents begged her not to take the role, concerned that the film—which features full frontal nudity and graphic sex scenes—would cause her career to “have the same destiny” as Maria Schneider, who never quite broke away from the stigma of starring in Bertolucci’s provocative film “Last Tango in Paris” (1972). Green says she was “quite shocked” after seeing a rough cut of “The Dreamers” and was driven to look away during the sex scenes. For her, she told an interviewer, “it was as though I was wearing a costume while we were making the film. It was as if I had another story in my mind. So I was left speechless.”

TRAILER REVIEW:
I don't really care for heavily CGI movies but anything with #ChristophWaltz in it is worth watching in my book. (3/5) stars for me.

Following in the footsteps of Ron Fricke’s BARAKA and Godfrey Reggio’s KOYAANISQATSI, Victor Tagaro’s YIELD is an experimental film that shifts away from the typical form of the documentary and presents a visceral and enthralling experience. @jrod_writes about YIELD.

A little too colorful for me. I like dark DC, but it's still going to be good I know it.

Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) When my grandmother who usually could care less about superhero movies asked if we could see this opening day, I was shocked. Not only had she heard all of the nasty reviews, but she had also repeatedly voiced her concern over the result “aren’t they gonna be mad if someone loses?”. Just as the record showed, she wasn’t as disappointed as I was. The movie introduced a Batman that was far too old and angry, without anything save a few flashbacks of a crumbling building and a scene of his parents dying for the hundredth time. The plotline really didn’t leave much room for character development much less for the hatred to build between the two characters. Lex Luthor, while played by a fairly established actor who has had many commendable performances, felt less like his character and more like another famous Batman villain. Not to mention his reasoning and motivation were lacking. The movie’s saving grace is the inclusion of Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot is not only stunning, but she also builds a deadly yet elegant persona for Diana. Plus the ending and the title angers me, the way that all these “metahumans”, who just conveniently make up a good beginning for the justice league (dawn of justice-justice league *gag*) are discovered leaves a huge gap in space and no room for development whatsoever. In return, it led to a series of mistakes in the Justice League movie, which I’m sure will be requested shortly after this review is posted. Alright now for the most hated moment of the movie, the safeword, ohh wait I mean “turning point”. Not only do I think Clark calling his mom by her first name and it being a bell in Bruce's head is both unnatural and unlikely, I feel as though it was more than just an ex machina. Yet, I do believe that somewhere deep inside, Bruce felt as though he was too weak to save his own mother, and he couldn’t deny anyone, even Clark a chance to save his, using just the word “Martha” doesn’t express this enough for me. Overall, it was rushed and underdeveloped and didn’t leave many good things to come from it. Let’s all cross our fingers for Aquaman. 4/10

He was a good novelist and pretty much the best screenwriter ever. He's definitely influenced several generations of aspiring screenwriters, including yours truly. The wonderful William Goldman passed away today, and if you don't know his name, you know his films. #butchcassidyandthesundancekid #magic #theprincessbride #marathonman #theghostandthedarkness #misery and more.
🎥
#stephenking said Goldman's screenplay for Misery is "a thing of beauty". He did lots of uncredited rewrites on countless films, he was rumored to have done script doctoring on films like Good Will Hunting and Zombieland , and hated his time trying to fix The Last Action Hero and quit working on The Right Stuff. 🎥
Goldman has been the primary influence on my screenwriting, there are bits and pieces of him in everything I write, and I would not have sold two of my scripts if not for what I hope I learned from him. 🎥
To quote the last line from his most popular book, The Princess Bride , " Life's not fair. It's just a lot fairer than death, is all" 😞
Rest well, Mr Goldman. We'll not see the likes of you for some time.

(swipe↔) #TheCraftOfCutting 🎥✂ Desdoblamiento mediático en "I Tonya (2017)” de Craig GUILLESPIE.
⛸ Montadora: Tatiana S. RIEGEL.
.
