Climb Tip Tuesday: Drop that knee! Technique training @bloc11. Parden Island. Cape Town. H.Coleman
Today's climbing tip is the dropknee. You may recall Frogstyle or Frogging which brings the hips close to the wall in the frontal position. Dropknee moves the hips close to the wall in the side-on, perpindicular position. This is the mark of the maestro. The dropknee technique shifts the centre of mass closer to the wall and over the feet. It also enables torque between points of contact to create a stable base of support. The dropknee gives further mechanical advantage in terms of reach Experiment with dropping that knee. Go slow to prevent injury. Over time you will develop the flexibility to deepen the drop and increase your movement ability. So remember to drop that knee and I'll see you at the top!
